Lesson 98C – Isaiah 24–29
A Marvelous Work
What does the reaping involve?
• Harvesting, Threshing, Winnowing
• Who does the reaping? (v29, also
footnote)
– The Lord
• v27-28 - How does He do it?
– “Fitches are not threshed with a
threshing instrument”
– “Fitches are beaten out with a
staff”
– “Bread Corn is bruised”
• The Lord is careful. He must
separate the grains of wheat from
the chaff, but He will not break the
grains with a cart.

• What does the chaff represent?
• What is the chaff attached to?
• How is it removed?
• The “husks of sin”
What is the common theme?
• Learning precept upon precept, building a
house, sowing and threshing.
• All are about the process, not the end result.
• Righteousness is not achieved in a day; we
have our whole life to learn, build, and sow.
Let us be diligent in the work.
Notebook Ideas
• Besides what you wrote about earlier, what
are some other “fences” you can place in your
life to help you live the commandments and
principles of the gospel?
• What measurements can you take in your life
to make sure your house is sturdy and still on
the foundation of Christ?
Isaiah 29
• One of the more famous
Isaiah prophecies in the
LDS church, but not
necessarily elsewhere.
• Scripture Mastery v14-15
– Let’s memorize it.
• Where else is this scripture
used?
• Joseph Smith History 1:19
• The First Vision
LeGrand Richards
“What would really constitute a marvelous work
and a wonder? Why should not honest lovers of
truth welcome the pronouncement of such a
work? Should any generation reject revealed truth
when sent from heaven, even as they rejected the
Christ when he came among men? Why does it
seem so much easier to accept and believe in the
dead prophets than in living prophets?
“In the accomplishment of this promised
marvelous work and a wonder, the Lord had in
mind a ‘restitution of all things’ and moved upon
Peter to so prophesy to those who had crucified his
Lord: [ Acts 3:19–21].” ( A Marvelous Work and a
Wonder, pp. 34–35.)

A Prophecy of Hope
• Isa 29:18, 24
• Because of this marvelous work and a wonder,
many will be brought out of spiritual
blindness. Those who have erred in Spirit
“shall come to understanding”
• Let us make sure we are a part of that process.

and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon
