 Sentence: Taylor’s penchant for high

a demolition crew or turn him into tiny
little bite-sized chunks.
 We all have a penchant for something:
for chocolate cake, horror movies, or
the study of slime molds.

Definition: balanced or harmonious
proportions
Synonyms: equilibrium, proportion,
evenness
Antonyms: asymmetry
 Sentence: While Buford’s life was
indeed tragic—he was born on a pig
farm and died choking on a sausage

symmetry to it.
 With two great towers at each corner,

the new building.

Definition: a person who excels at telling
stories

 Always a witty raconteur, Buford
captivated his audience with tales of his
adventures in Borneo, where he
wrestled with the rare and fearsome
speckled newt.

parties.

 Sentence: Undergoing surgery wasn’t
on today’s agenda, but since my legs
have seen severed from my body, I
guess I’ll add it to the list.
 I can’t seem to get everything done on
my daily agenda.

Exult [verb}
Definition: to express extreme joy
Synonyms: rejoice, celebrate
Antonyms: lament, mourn
 Sentence: The British soccer fans
exulted in their team’s victory by
trampling each other in a mad rush to
the field.
 Suzy Snowflake had exulted in her bid
to become a cheerleader until she
realized how much practice was
involved.

Definition: a disastrous or uncontrolled
fire

 Sentence: The firemen could not
contain the unbelievable

 The conflagration in the Smoky

destroying many favorite vacation
spots.
Note: To qualify as a conflagration, a fire has to
be big, nasty, and dangerous. Bonus points if
it’s also wildly out of control.

small, colored tiles or pieces.
 Sentence: I’m making you a mosaic out
of Sweet-Tarts for Valentine’s Day, but I
can’t find the right color to represent
the joyless agony that is the destiny of
all humanity.
 For my patio, I created a beautiful
mosaic on a small tabletop using
colorful broken dishes.

Epiphany [noun]
Definition: a sudden clarity or insight
Synonyms: revelation, realization
 Sentence: After hours of memorizing
vocabulary from note cards, Buford had
a powerful epiphany and realized he
was going about it all wrong. Inspired,
he paid Suzy Snowflake to take his
exam.
 Recently, I had an epiphany that I might
be able to do without teaching and
should consider retiring to a tropical
island.

Definition: an astonishing or unexpected
discovery
Synonyms: epiphany, realization, eyeopener
 Sentence: Zookeeper McElroy
conveniently disappeared when
revelations about his peculiar fondness
for licking toads came to light.
 His revelation that he loved me made
my heart flutter and made my live
complete.

Definition: the state of being the highest
or greatest, superiority

 Sentence: Now that Buford has
