Type your project title here
Your name
Your teacher’s name
Your school
Project Overview
Type a brief overview or summary of
your project here. (What made you choose this experiment? Etc.)
Statement of the Problem
Type your question here.
 Make Sure Is the problem or question clear and focused
 Make Sure problem or question testable using scientific methods?
Research
Summarize your research here in three to five bullet points:
(this is not your source page. This is where you explain what you found out in your
research)
• 1st bullet point
• 2nd bullet point
• 3rd bullet point
• 4th bullet point
• 5th bullet point
Hypothesis
Based on the research you have done, you will be writing an answer or
solution – your best educated guess – to your question.
 Make sure you write down your hypothesis before you begin your
experiment.
 Make sure it is should be written as an “IF …Then statement”
 Make sure the hypothesis supported by research or observations.
Variables

Controlled variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout
your experiments.
 Make sure all Controls are listed

Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test.

Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the
independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure
the change.
Materials

Type a detailed list of the items you needed to complete your
experiments.
 Make sure to include all necessary materials listed so the
experiment could be repeated.

Be specific about the amounts used.
Procedure



List all of the steps used in completing your experiment.
Remember to number your steps.
Add photos of your experiments.
 Make sure all necessary steps are listed so the experiment
could be repeated.
Data/Observations


It is easier to understand the data if it is put into a table or graph.
Create a graph in Microsoft Excel and import it here.
Make sure all data is clearly labeled.




MAKE SURE ALL OF YOUR DATA IS IN METRICS!!!!!
Make sure all the data and graph labeled correctly.
Make sure to use the proper graphs to interpret and analyze data.
Make sure there is sufficient data presented to make a conclusion.
Conclusion
Type a brief summary here of what you discovered based on the
results of your experiments. You need to indicate whether or not the
data supports the hypothesis and explain why or why not.
 Make sure conclusions justified by the data analysis, and refers back
to the hypothesis.

 Can the student speak knowledgeably about their conclusions and
provide explanations for their data?
NEXT TIME
Explain what you would have done differently if you had an opportunity to do it
again.
OR
Explain possible ways in which the project could be expanded in the future.
Works Cited
Be sure to include print and electronic
sources and put them in alphabetical order.
 This is like the works cited page from your research paper.
