Coming of age literature are those stories, songs, movies, poems, and other various
artwork that features a main character (or characters) progressing from childhood
to adulthood. This is rarely a physical transformation; instead, it is often a
mental/moral growth of the individual. Generally lessons are learned and the
character has more knowledge about him/herself or the world in general.
Coming of age literature is the most common theme found in young adult literature.
For this activity you will describe how Perks of Being a Wallflower, Life is Beautiful,
and a creative work selected by you fit the definition of coming of age. In addition,
you will generate a creative work whose theme is coming of age.
