MY UNFORGETTABLE BIRTHDAY GIFT
Writing is not so easy for me at that early age of seven when I sat down
with a pen to write down something about my life so far. My grandfather was
there with me who encouraged me and motivated to write down an essay on my
interest and hobbies.
I just scrambled over the pages thinking what to write. I was literally
confused on what to start with and how to continue it and end with. A hand
came touching my fingers and it was my grandfather, he just gave me a huge
smile and said “Come on, you can write something”.
My writing began there at that point of time I struggled hard to start it
but later I was encouraged to finish it up with such beautiful lines. Of course,
every credit goes to my grandfather, the only man who was behind my English
knowledge.
Life was so mean unless and until I started to write. Later writing
became my only companion and time pass. Later I discovered that I was up to
something else and I should never stop writing.
I started writing poetries and some more short stories without any help
from my grandfather and I was wonderstruck at some point of time when my
friends show keen interest in reading my stories.
It was my 12th birthday, I waked up early in the morning to freshen up
myself and continue my daily work. My grandfather always tells me that
reading newspaper not only enhances your general knowledge but also favors
you to improve your language skills.
So, with full of refreshment I started to look at the newspaper page by
page. As I came across the pages one by one I saw a column where young
readers (kids) would write up something of their own and publish it in that
newspaper.
I was shocked initially to see my poem been published in that page on
that day. Then, I was totally surprised to see my grandfather smiling at me. I
realized everything now. It was a surprise gift from my grandfather on my
birthday.
The one, who taught me, encouraged me, motivated me was no more
with me now. I am proud to say that the knowledge which he passed on to me
still remains in this world. I share my knowledge of English with others. I
learned not only the language but also to motivate others.
I didn’t felt the burden of life unless and until I entered the field of
research. Biotechnology was my dream field and I struggled hard to get there.
People say it’s hard to reach the goal and yes it was until I decided to travel on
the right path.
No doubt, life is beautiful and every moment – a celebration of being
alive, but one should be always ready to face adversity and challenges. A
person who has not encountered difficulties in life can never achieve success.
Thus, life is and should not be just a bed of roses; thorns are also a part
of it and should be accepted by us just as we accept the beautiful side of life.
