The current version used is QTP version 10.00 PCIC has just completed its implementation of STG Billing application. The application is written using FLEX technology. Prior to STG Billing, PCIC had implemented UMS system which is written using FLEX as well. PCIC is requesting to create an automation framework that will cover the application mentioned. This document will address the following: - - Cover the requirements Provide detailed instructions how to achieve the automation framework including but not limited to: o Build FLEX Development Environment o Install QTP o Install FLEX add-in Address the issues, and try to resolve any impediments. HP QuickTest Professional The automation tool used in PCIC currently is version 10.00. HP does not support or provide FLEX add-in. HP does not provide support for Adobe FLEX add-in. Adobe FLEX add-in Support for Adobe (Macromedia) Flex applications is handled by Adobe. Adobe has released Flex Builder 3.0; this release includes the QuickTest Professional Flex add-in. The add-in was developed using QuickTest Professional's Test Extensibility Architecture functionality. The Flex add-in is developed and owned by Adobe. Hewlett Packard does not support the Adobe Flex add-in, therefore we strongly suggest contacting Adobe (http://www.adobe.com) to see about availability, support details, and pricing. Adobe is providing the add-in via an automation package that is shipped with Flex Builder 3 Professional. Basic information on the automation package with QuickTest Professional integration is here: http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/3/releasenotes_flex3_fb.html http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/upgrade/ Users can download the automation package with QuickTest Professional integration here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flex A specific Adobe license is required and needs to be requested from Adobe. No specific Flex license is required on the QuickTest Professional side. Note: Support for the Flex add-in is being provided by Adobe. Customers/end-users need to contact the Adobe support organization for help with problems or questions related to the Flex add-in. 3 From the Flex Builder 3 release notes (for an updated version, contact Adobe): Helpful Adobe sites: http://www.adobe.com/support/flex http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flex/3/releasenotes_flex3_fb.html http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/upgrade/ Requirements for Using the QTP Plug-in To test applications with Flex Automated Testing and the QTP agent, you must install the following: HP QuickTest Professional Adobe Flex 3 Plug-in for HP QuickTest Professional Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 6 or later Flash Player ActiveX control, version 9.0.28.0 or higher Installation Please follow the steps to make Adobe Flex applications Automatable with QTP: Section 1: Install Automation plug-in 1. Download and install Automation plug-in from location: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flex4_5_automation_plugin 2. After plug-in Installation, launch QTP and verify in Add-ins window Flex and AIR add-ins exists and selected. 4 Section 2: Compile Flex Applications with automation swcs. 1. In order to enable automation, the applications should be compiled with automation swcs using –includelibraries compiler argument option. In Flex 4, Adobe added support for AIR automation and automation of spark components. 2. To test any Flex application with QTP, it should be compiled with automation_agent.swc, qtp.swc and automation.swc using –include-libraries option of Flex compiler (mxmlc). 3. To test any AIR application, it should be compiled with automation_agent.swc, automation.swc, automation_air.swc and qtp_air.swc. 4. To test AIR app with spark components, automation_spark.swc and automation_airspark.swc should also be added to –include-libraries option. 5. To test Flex app with spark components, automation_spark.swc should be added to –include-libraries option. 6. To test Flex / AIR apps with DMV (Charts, AdvancedDataGrid) components, automation_dmv should be added to –include-libraries option. 5 Ex: Compiler argument: -include-libraries <path to automation_agent.swc> <path to automation.swc> <path to automation_air.swc> <path to automation_spark.swc> <path to automation_airspark.swc> <path to qtp_air.swc> Also please note that only qtp_air.swc should be included for AIR automation. Qtp.swc should not be added. On same note, only qtp.swc should be added for Flex automation and qtp_air.swc should not be added. Download and install Adobe Flash Builder 4.x 2. Download and install blazeds (This BlazeDS Turnkey includes the Adobe BlazeDS and Adobe Flex SDK) 3. Verify environment a. Go through the tutorial to verify that the application is configured correctly 6 b. Start the server and verify that the blazeds and sample wars were deployed 7 c. 8 Create a new FLEX project in Flash Builder 9 Glossary SWCS: SWC files are used for distributing components, as SWC is Flash ShockWave Component (SWC) distribution format created by Adobe. These kinds of files contain a compiled clip, the component's ActionScript class file, and other files that describe the component. SWC could also include a .SWF file and a catalog .xml file, which shows the concrete information of the package and the individual components. It is generated by a Flash authoring tool, and can be compressed by the PKZIP archive format. To Open SWC on Windows, use Adobe Flex Builder application 10
