For the character in the Robin Hood legend, see Little John. Jonathan Smith (born January 17, 1971),[1][2][3] better known by his stage name Lil Jon, is an American rapper, music producer, entrepreneur, and occasional disc jockey who was a member of the group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. Lil Jon formed the group in 1997, and the group released several albums between then and 2004. He then went solo and released a new album in 2010 called Crunk Rock. Early life Lil' Jon was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. He graduated from LaGrange High School.[4] [edit] Career [edit] Early career After working as a DJ for Atlanta night clubs, he started working for So So Def Recordings between 1993 and 2000.[5] The group signed to the Atlanta-based Mirror Image Records and were distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997, Lil' Jon & the East Side Boyz debuted with Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album. It included singles "Who U Wit?" and "Shawty Freak a Lil' Sumthin'", the latter of which came out in 1998. Both singles charted on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #70 and #62 respectively.[6] In 2000 Jon took part in starting up his own label BME Recordings and signed a distribution agreement with Norcross, Georgia based Southern Music Distribution. There he released his break through album titled We Still Crunk. Among the tracks on that project was the hit single "I Like Dem Girlz", which reached #55 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. After hearing feedback that Lil' Jon was "the new guy" from street team people in the markets where he was attracting his biggest audiences - namely Atlanta, St. Louis, Memphis and Dallas A&R at TVT, Bryan Leach, went to one of his Atlanta shows and was blown away by the immense energy of the experience.[7] Leach told HitQuarters: "It was like early Beastie Boys, when they had the energy of a rock group but they were rapping, and ... that energy is what crunk music is all about."[7] Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz signed to TVT Records in 2001 and debuted there with Put Yo Hood Up, which combined previously released tracks with new ones. The group's first nationally played single was "Bia' Bia'", which featured rappers Ludacris, Too Short, Big Kapp, and Chyna Whyte.[1] "Bia' Bia'" peaked at #97 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #47 on the Billboard R&B chart.[6] In 2002, the group released Kings of Crunk. "I Don't Give A..." was its first single; it featured Mystikal and Krayzie Bone and peaked at #50 on the R&B chart.[6] The group's next single, a Page 1 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. "What U Gon' Do" peaked at #22 on the Hot 100, #13 on the R&B chart, and #5 on the rap chart; its follow-up, "Lovers & Friends" featuring Usher and Ludacris, peaked at #3 (Hot 100), #2 (R&B), and #1 (rap).[6] [edit] Solo career and production In addition to leading Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon has also produced many hit urban singles. From 2003 to 2005, while still with The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon produced hits like "Salt Shaker" by Ying Yang Twins, "Yeah!" by Usher, "Freek-a-Leek" by Petey Pablo, "Shorty Wanna Ride" by Young Buck, "Shake That Monkey" by Too Short, "Let's Go" by Trick Daddy, and "Girlfight" by Brooke Valentine.[1] Lil' Jon entered the San Francisco Bay Area hyphy music scene in 2006 with his collaborations with Bay Area rapper E-40: Lil' Jon produced E-40's single "Tell Me When To Go" and had E-40 and Atlanta rapper Sean P on his own "Snap Yo Fingers".[8] In 2006, Lil' Jon severed his negotiation with record label TVT. He vowed never to record for TVT Records again, alleging that TVT owner Steve Gottlieb was shortchanging him.[9] He also began recording a rock music album, Crunk Rock; in May 2006 he began recording in Las Vegas, Nevada because rock band The Killers was recording its upcoming album Sam's Town there and the East Side Boyz signed a new deal with Rick Robinson aka Double R CEO and Founder of IMG Recordings, which the album got pushed back to 2010.[10] MTV News reported in March 2008 that Crunk Rock was taking more time to complete than Lil' Jon already planned.[11] As part of TVT Records' 2008 bankruptcy auction, Lil' Jon withdrew his multi-million dollar objection to the TVT sale proceedings and agreed to TVT’s transfer of his artist agreement to The Orchard. In return, The Orchard released Lil' Jon from all future obligations and returned the rights to the master recordings of Crunk Rock. Crunk Rock was finally released on June 8, 2010 and it features artists such as LMFAO, Soulja Boy, Ying Yang Twins, Waka Flocka Flame, R.Kelly, and many more.[12] In March 2011, Lil Jon took part in the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC and was eliminated in the Final Four.[13] In July 2011, in a recent interview has said that he is working on a new studio album called "Party Animal" and has released a song with LMFAO called "Drink". [edit] Musical style and influences Jason Birchmeier of all music has described Lil' Jon's production as "bass-heavy" and his album Put Yo Hood Up as having "a long and varied list of guest rappers to accompany the beats". With the guest performers featured on that album much more than the East Side Boyz, Birchmeier remarked: "The end result is an album that resembles a street-level mixtape rather than a traditional artistoriented album".[14] He was specifically influenced by 2 Live Crew, 8Ball & MJG, OutKast, Geto Boys, UGK, Dr. Dre, and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Alex Henderson, also of allmusic, contrasted Lil' Jon's style of "rowdy, in-your-face, profanity-filled party music" with other Southern rappers', those who "have a gansta/thug life agenda" and those who convey "serious sociopolitical messages".[15] Lil' Jon has also found influence in rock music, having worked with Rick Rubin and Korn.[16] He was seen on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of All-Time program wearing a Bad Brains t-shirt and also used to listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd growing up in the South in the 70s. For Trick Daddy's "Let's Go", Lil' Jon sampled the bass line from Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train".[10] Page 2 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. Born Jonathan Smith on January 27, 1971, in Atlanta, GA, the producer/rapper began his rap industry ascension as part of Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label, for which he worked from 1993 to 2000. In the mid-'90s Lil Jon began making a name for himself as a producer with a knack for club remixes. Before long he formed his own group, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz, comprised of Big Sam and Lil Bo, in addition to himself. Page 4 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. Essentially a means of showcasing his production talent, and profiting from it as well, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz signed to Mirror Image Records, an Atlanta-based label distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997 the label released Who U Wit?, a CD single, and Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album; a second CD single, Shawty Freak a Lil Sumtin', followed in 1998. The regional success of "Who U Wit?" brought with it plenty of outside production opportunities for Lil Jon, and so it wasn't until 2000 that he returned with another East Side Boyz album, We Still Crunk, this one released independently by BME Recordings. A contract with TVT Records followed, as did the group's label debut, Put Yo Hood Up (2001), which boasted some previously released material (e.g., "Who U Wit?," "I Like Dem Girlz"), as well as "Bia' Bia'," the first Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz single to get national airplay, thanks in part to the song's guest features (i.e., Ludacris, Too Short). Led by the single "I Don't Give a @#&%," Kings of Crunk (2002) then capitalized on Lil Jon's breakthrough, spawning the Top Five hit "Get Low." Featuring the Ying Yang Twins, "Get Low" was a club phenomenon throughout 2003; Part II, a CD/DVD EP released toward the end of the year, featured dancehall and merengue remixes of the song, along with additional material. Lil Jon's production style became ubiquitous on urban radio thereafter, as "Salt Shaker" (a production for the Ying Yang Twins), "Goodies" (Ciara), "Yeah!" (Usher), "Freek-a-Leek" (Petey Pablo), "Shorty Wanna Ride" (Young Buck), "Damn!" (YoungBloodZ), "Let's Go" (Trick Daddy), "Culo" (Pitbull), "Head Bussa" (Lil Scrappy), "Neva Eva" (Trillville), and "Shake That Monkey" (Too Short) all garnered significant airplay in 2003-2004. By this point, the celebrity of Lil Jon was such that comedian Dave Chappelle was memorably satirizing him (especially his signature "yeaaah!" and "whaaat!?" expressions) on a couple episodes of The Chappelle Show. Toward the end of 2004, "What U Gon' Do," a Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz single featuring Lil Scrappy, announced the release of Crunk Juice, a star-studded album featuring guest features on nearly every song. "Friends & Lovers," featuring Usher and Ludacris, became the most successful single, reaching the Top Three of the Billboard 100. In the wake of Crunk Juice, Lil Jon put his solo career on hold while his label went through bankruptcy hearings. He continued to produce hits for others, including "I'm a King" (T.I., 2005), "Touch" (Amerie, 2005), "Girlfight" (Brooke Valentine, 2005), "Okay" (Nivea, 2005), "Presidential" (YoungBloodZ, 2006), "U and Dat" (E-40, 2006), "Gangsta Gangsta" (Lil Scrappy, 2006), and "Dime/Tell Me" (Pitbull, 2006), among others. In 2010 his solo career was back in the forefront with the release of that year's Crunk Rock. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ URL: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1671103/yelawolf-lil-jon-hard-white-video.jhtml Author: By Rob Markman Date Updated: 20.09.11 Date Accessed: 13.03.12 – 8:33pm Lil Jon Gets Rowdy In Yelawolf's 'Hard White' Video First clip from Yela's upcoming Radioactive debut features a debauched crowd in a gritty bar. Bar fights, bikini wrestling and a Lil Jon guest spot — what's not to love about Yelawolf's "Hard White" video? On Tuesday (September 20) Catfish Billy debuted the first visual to his debut album, Radioactive, which is set to hit stores on October 25. The Motion Family-directed clip starts with a pan from an outside parking lot, revealing bikers, truckers and various riffraff who file into the gritty bar where the MC is set to perform. Lil Jon is the hype man, but Yela is clearly the life of the party as he raps and pops champagne bottles in a tie-dyed hoodie. "You ain't gotta lay down on your back to know you're already f---ed up/ Lettin' me in the motherf---in' club is like lettin' me drunk drive in your truck," the Shady signee spits to set things off as partygoers keep their hands in the air. The crowd is a mixed bunch — black, white, tatted up and gangsta — who seem to enjoy debauchery. Women are passed out drunk in the bathroom, while Wolf slides his buddy across the bar top like a human bowling ball, striking all the staged beer bottles in the process. The Gadsen, Alabama, lyricist isn't the only entertainment in the staged nightclub, however. In the middle of the venue a kiddie pool, filled with some type of lubricant, houses two scantily clad eye candies who wrestle and smack each other on the backside in slow motion as the rowdy crowd cheers them on. The song's hook ("Up in the club, don't give a f---") is a lyrical reflection of what fans see. Visually, "Hard White" is dark, mixing hip-hop and punk elements seamlessly as Yela proves he is a musical force to be reckoned with even before his boast at the end of the clip. "I ain't in the building, I own the building, bitch," he exclaimed. And who are we to argue? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ URL: Author: By Rob Markman Date Updated: 20.09.11 Date Accessed: 13.03.12 – 8:33pm +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ URL: http://www.billboard.com/artist/lil-jon/bio/246503#/artist/lil-jon/chart-history/246503 Author: Billboard Date Updated: Unknown Date Accessed: 16.03.12 – 2:44pm Page 6 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. That charity thought his efforts were just enough, though. On Tuesday, he was honored by the United Methodist Children's Home for raising $80,000. The proceeds will be placed in an endowment fund to help educational opportunities and refurbish buildings at the sprawling 99-acre campus in suburban Atlanta. There will also be multimedia studio named after Lil Jon to help launch a music and performing arts program. Sporting a gray suite and a black bow tie, the normally energetic Lil Jon — who is known as the "King of Crunk" — was at a loss for words. His voice trembled when the pointed out that today was the birthday of his father — who died several years ago. "I'm rarely speechless, but I'm speechless today," Lil Jon said. "The goal was to raise awareness to this children's home. Through the show, a lot of people got to learn about this home. Through the show, more people said they'll make more donations. I'm happy with that." The 40-year-old said his initial goal was to raise $100,000. He was among the final four contestants along with John Rich, Meat Loaf and Marlee Matlin. Rich won the competition on Sunday, taking home $250,000 for his charity. Lil Jon's tenure ended more than a week ago after he told a panel of past "Apprentice" winners that Rich and Matlin should face off against each other rather than himself. Terence Johnson, director of programs at the United Methodist Children's Home, said he wouldn't have traded in Lil Jon for any of the other show's contestants. He said the rapper brought national awareness to the UMCH, which opened in 1871 and was originally founded as an orphanage for children who lost parents during the Civil War. "It translates into hope," Johnson said. "You can't put a price tag on it. This is the spark that some of these kids need." Johnson said Lil Jon's ability to help others on the show look past the negative stereotype associated with rappers, who are known for their harsh and obscene lyrics. Lil Jon's mother, who was in attendance, said she was proud of her son's positive effect through his charity. "It brought back sadness," said Lil Jon's mother Carrie Smith-Williams, who was a foster parent. "I was so happy to see him express that without even crying. They were so close. I was proud of him." The charity efforts won't stop there with Jon and his "Celebrity Apprentice" counterparts. He, Meat Loaf, Rich and Mark McGrath recently released the "Stand In The Storm," a song that will benefit each of their charities. Dogged by controversy since his first appearance in the music arena, 50 Cent has defied the critics and skeptics and now holds the title of 2005’s highest selling album in the United States with The Massacre (Universal), beating out fellow chart toppers Green Day, Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson. 50 Cent is also the first recording artist since the Beatles (in 1964) to have four songs in the US Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. His debut film, also titled Get Rich or Die Tryin’, recently took US$12.5 million on its opening day in the States. Based around 50 Cent’s life and directed by Jim Sheridan, the film will be released in Australia on January 12 (through UIP). Over the last year 50 Cent has toured extensively through the US and Europe and has blown the rooftop off countless venues. For the Australian shows “King Of Krunk” Lil Jon & The BME Click will join the tour while Sydney trio Bliss n Eso and Melbourne lads Weapon X & Ken Hell round out the night. For the genre of music also known as "crunk rock", see Crunkcore. Crunk Rock is the solo debut album by American Crunk artist Lil Jon, released on June 8, 2010 by BME and Universal Republic.[3][4] The characters at the bottom of the album's cover are Japanese katakana characters, which read "Kurunku Rokku," the Japanese transcription of the album's title. Background and recording Work on the album began in 2005. In May 2006, MTV reported that it would be released late that summer or in early fall.[5] At that time he announced that he was relocating to Las Vegas where the album would be recorded, and that half of the album would be similar in style to his 2003 single "Get Low".[5] In June that year, recording had started, and Lil Jon announced that he planned to include collaborations with R. Kelly, Mariah Carey, and Snoop Dogg on the album, and the first single from the album sessions, "Snap Yo Fingers" was released, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.[6][7] In January 2007, it was reported that Lil Jon was still in the studio working on the album, and that recorded tracks included "Roll Call" featuring Lil Wayne and Ciara, and tracks featuring R. Kelly and Nate Dogg.[8] The prospective release date at that time was Spring 2007.[8] At this time he was already indicating problems with the record label, stating that he "was going through the drama with TVT Records".[9] By August 2007, the album's release date had slipped again, with late 2007 the expected date. The list of guest artists had by this time expanded to include Game, Ice Cube, P.O.D. and Kid Rock, with Jon explaining that "the concept of the album is that it is merger of rock and hip-hop styles, utilising the different styles of the guest contributors."[10] By November 2007, however, the album was reported to be "65 percent, maybe 70 percent done", with a release now expected in 2008, with Lil Jon taking time out to DJ and do voiceover work in Hollywood.[11] By March 2008, the problems with TVT had intensified, with record label TVT described by MTV as having gone from "having money to burn to being on the verge of folding", and Lil Jon said to have experienced legal issues with the label over money.[12] While work on the album was interrupted, with Lil Jon citing the stress of the TVT situation as causing him to taking a complete break from recording the album, he had worked with other artists such as Flo Rida and Pharrell Williams, and had done production work on E-40's Ball Street Journal album.[12] The TVT label filed for bankruptcy in February 2008, putting the album's release into doubt.[13] By August 2008, Lil' Jon had freed himself from his contract with TVT, giving him the rights to the master recordings for Crunk Rock, in return for dropping his objection to the sale of TVT's assets to The Orchard Group.[14] He restarted work on the album and stated that he was considering a new 'World Music' direction for the album and a possible change of title, saying "I'm touching so many different kinds of people on this album as well as keeping my core fan base at the same time."[15] In October 2008, Lil Jon signed to Universal Republic and the album was re-scheduled for a release in early 2009.[4] In March 2009, two mixtapes appeared from Lil' Jon, Rockbox Vol. 1 and 2, with Rolling Stone announcing that Crunk Rock was expected later in 2009.[16] Indeed, the second volume closed with Jon stating "Crunk Rock coming sooooooon".[16] By September 2009 a new date of November 24 was announced for the album's release, although it was still unfinished.[17][18] Confirmed guests additionally included Roscoe Dash, Mariah Carey, 3OH!3, Whole Wheat Bread, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, LMFAO, Zuper Blahq, DJ Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Elephant Man, Pastor Troy, Ying Yang Twins, Akon, Mario, R. Kelly, T-Pain, Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, and Pitbull.[18][19] Another single from the album, the RedOne-produced "Give It All U Got", was announced, with a promotional video filmed in Miami in September.[18][20] Lil Jon stated the album would now be more eclectic than previously envisaged with elements of house Page 13 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. Lil Jon held a Listening Session for the album in 2010.[citation needed] Rap-Up reported that the album is set for a June 8, 2010 release.[22] In an interview with Billboard in May 2010 he confirmed that Crunk Rock will be released on June 8.[23] The album was released in standard and deluxe edition.[24][25] [edit] Singles Official singles "Ms. Chocolate", which features R. Kelly and Mario and was produced by Drumma Boy, was released as the first single on March 30, 2010. "Hey", which features 3OH!3 was released as the second single. Promo singles "Snap Yo Fingers" was released as the first promotional single on February 4, 2006. The single peaked at 7 in the United States, and topped the US R&B/Hip Hop and US Rap charts. However, the song did not make it for the album, and it was released as a single only. "Act a Fool", which features Three 6 Mafia, was released as the second promotional single on October 31, 2008. It peaked at 91 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. It was not featured in the album. "I Do", which features Swizz Beatz and Snoop Dogg, was released as the third promotional single on July 21, 2009. It peaked at 101 on the US R&B/Hip Hop. It was not featured in the album. "Give It All U Got", which features Kee[clarification needed] on the original version and also features British rapper, Tinchy Stryder on the official remix (along with Kee), was released as the fourth promotional single on November 3, 2009. It peaked at 90 on the Canadian Hot 100.[26] However, it did not make the final cut for the album. "Outta Your Mind", which features LMFAO, was released as the fifth promotional single on March 23, 2010. It peaked at 28 on Billboard's Rap Digital Songs chart. Benny Benassi, DJ Chuckie, A-Trak, David Guetta, Steve Aoki and Travis Barker appear in the music video which was filmed in Miami, Florida. It also debuted at 84 on the Billboard Hot 100. [edit] Reception [edit] Commercial performance The album debuted at number 49 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 8,900 copies.[27] The low amount of albums sold was said to be the sales surprise of the week by HipHopDX.[28] It sold 4,700 copies the second week, bring the total to 14,000 copies sold in the U.S.[29] [edit] Critical response Professional ratings Review scores Source Rating Page 14 of 25 BACKGROUND info off the net [Lil John] NB – This document is information we have sourced off the net for our own research and provided to you as a courtesy. Allmusic [30] HipHopDX [31] The New York Times (mixed)[32] RapReviews (5/10)[33] [34] Slant Magazine USA Today [35] Upon its release, the album received generally mixed reviews from music critics.[36] Allmusic writer David Jeffries gave it 3 out of 5 stars and called it "a scattershot set of tracks that just barely fit together, but take into consideration the label problems and legal issues the producer has faced since the album's conception, and it becomes a scruffy mess you just might cheer on".[30] Emanuel Wallace of RapReviews gave Crunk Rock a 5/10 rating and wrote "If you're looking for lyrical greatness, you'll be disappointed. If you want an album filled with nothing but trunk-rattling beats you'll be disappointed".[33] Slant Magazine writer Jesse Cataldo gave the album 2½ out of 5 stars and described its songs as "thick, silly concoctions, glazed with bass and defined by endless repetition, whirlwinds of chants and shouts that circle like demented carousels".[34] The New York Times writer Jon Caramanica commended the album's production, but ultimately expressed a negative response towards Lil Jon's lyrics, writing "he retains his trademark ignorance and indignation: plenty of the most salacious material here is his own... he’s back to noisily asserting primacy through fight chants".[32] USA Today's Steve Jones gave it 2½ out of 4 stars and shared a similar sentiment, stating "He has mixed more rock and electronica in with the thumping bass lines, but the message remains the same: Get up and jam, or go home".[35] Slava Kuperstein of HipHopDX gave it a 2.5/5 rating and in conclusion of the album said "With the kind of clout Lil Jon has, it's disappointing he wasn't able to come up with a better supporting cast (especially given his features in the past), which makes for an equally disappointing album."[31] [edit] Track listing No. Title Producer(s) 1. WU-TANG CLAN (BIO) The Wu-Tang Clan is a New York City-based hip hop group. Wu-Tang Clan consists of RZA, GZA, Raekwon, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Masta Killa, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Cappadonna (who was admitted into the group in 2007 by RZA, just before 8 Diagrams was released[1]). They were formed in (and are generally associated with) the New York City borough of Staten Island (referred to by members as "Shaolin"), though some of its members originate from Brooklyn. One of the most critically and commercially successful hip hop groups of all time, Wu-Tang Clan rose to fame with their uncompromising brand of hardcore rap music, and their success enabled all 10 Wu-Tang members to pursue solo careers, with varying degrees of success. They have introduced or launched the careers of numerous other affiliated artists and groups,[2] often collectively known as the Wu-Tang Killa Bees.[3] In 2007, MTV ranked Wu-Tang the 5th greatest Hip-hop group of all time. Without question, Lil Jon is responsible for the crunk movement elevating from a mere contender in the hip hop race, to the leader of the pack, dominating the clubs and charts in the process. Now, with 7 solo albums under his belt and a string of massive hits including â01CSnap Yo Fingersâ01D, â01CLovers and Friendsâ01D and â01CGet Lowâ01D, Lil Jon is bringing his energetic live show to Australia this October. Lil Jon started off his career as a DJ spinning at house parties, but eventually graduated to the Atlanta club scene. His notoriety soon landed him on the music-industry fast track, scoring him an A&R gig at Jermaine Dupriâ019s So So Def Records as well as a radio slot on V-103 in Atlanta . Like many a hip-hop producer, Jonâ019s Djing saw him eventually move into production. He formed his own group, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz and released two successful albums, the first in 1997. In 2001, he released â01CPut Yo Hood Upâ01D which featured the massive club hit â01CBia Biaâ01D that went on to break the Top 20 download chart. Kelly are among the stars lining up to guest on Lil Jon's upcoming hip-hop/rock hybrid, "Crunk Rock." The artist hopes to release the TVT set before the end of the year but a date has yet to be confirmed. "I worked with the guitar player from P.O.D., Marcos, a punk band called Whole Wheat Bread from Jacksonville, Fla., Kid Rock and a few others," Lil Jon tells Billboard.com. "My sh*t is real rock guitars with my beats, not keyboard guitars with ghetto beats. It's gonna be a little different from what you hear right now, but I think everyone will love it." The half-rock, half-hip-hop set will also feature Remy Ma, Lil Wayne, The Game, Gucci Mane, Fabo from D4L and Three 6 Mafia. As far as other rap groups using rock elements in their music recently, Jon says he's pleased that they can open their minds up to rock. "I've been doing crunk rock for the past two years," he says. "I did a street record with Three 6 Mafia in October where I say 'Party like a rock star, f*ck like a porn star.' Now everybody wants to be a rock star 'cause it's cool." "One thing I like is people are opening [our] ears to the music, 'cause [we] tend to be closed-minded to sh*t we don't know about," he continues. "It might make a motherf**ker that don't listen to rock go listen to some Guns N' Roses." Page 25 of 25
