Things Fall Apart CEC Theme Paragraph
The major theme for Things Fall Apart is the behavior towards other people because of
how Okonkwo treats his son Nwoye. On page 33 of Things Fall Apart, it said “Okonkwo
wanted his son to be a great farmer and a great man. He would stamp out the disquieting signs
of laziness which he thought he already saw in him. “I will not have a son who cannot hold up
his head in the gathering of the clan. I would sooner strangle him with my own hands. And if
you stand staring at me like that,” he swore, “Amadiora will break your head for you!” What
this is saying is that Okonkwo wants his son, Nwoye to be a great farmer and a great man but
Nwoye is too lazy. Okonkwo is also mean with Nwoye because when he was planting yam
seeds wrong, Okonkwo said he would break his jaw, and in another page, Okonkwo said that
Amadoira will break Nwoye’s head for him if Nwoye stood staring at him like he was doing.
