He married Isabel of Castile on October 19, 1469. He had remarried after Isabel died to Germaine of Foix. He was the grandfather of Queen Mary I of England (Bloody Mary). He died January 23, 1516. Queen Isabella of Castile She had to fight for her throne. Her niece “Juana la Beltraneja” tried to claim the throne. She married Fernando II of Aragon October 19, 1469. She and her husband drove the Jews out of Granada. She died November 26, 1504. Children Isabella, Juan, Juana, Maria, and Catalina were Fernando and Isabella’s children together. In 1497 Isabella was married to Manoel I of Portugal. In 1498, she died in child-birth, giving birth to Miguel da Paz. Manoel then married Isabella's younger sister, Maria of Aragon. Miguel died at age 2. Children (Continued) At the age of 18 Juan married Margaret of Austria. On the way to the wedding of his older sister, he died. In 1496, Juana married to the Archduke Philip the Handsome. Juana went mad after he died On 14 November 14, 1501 Catalina and Arthur were married. Arthur died on April 2, 1502. Catalina married Henry VIII on June 11, 1509 and was pregnant six times which resulted in two living children Prince Henry (1511-1511) and Mary (Queen Mary I 15161558). The Conquest of Granada Isabella and Fernando took the kingdom piece by piece. Often Isabella would inspire her followers and soldiers by praying in the battle field, that God's will may be done. In 1485 they laid siege to Ronda, which surrendered The next year, Loja was taken. One year later, with the fall of Malaga, the western part of the Muslim Nasrid kingdom had fallen into Spanish hands.
