Unit: Unit 7 - Imperialism
Objective:
 What is imperialism?
 Analyze the forces that shaped Africa.
Materials:
 Chapters 12/13 PowerPoint
 Canvas assignment
 Butcher paper
 markers
 Webquest – Europeans come to Western Africa
Class work/activities:
1. TSW be divided into pairs and be given a website to answer questions. Half of the class
one primary source and the other half another primary source.
2. After discussing the question, TSW take part in a “chalk talk” answering the question
“Would you support Imperialism? Why or why not?” on a piece of butcher paper at the
front of the room.
3. TSW take notes corresponding with PowerPoint lecture
4. TSW complete a webquest how imperialism affects slavery in Africa.
Homework: Complete webquest if not completed in class. Due by midnight.

Class work/activities:
1. TSW complete four stations, each including one of the causes of “New Imperialism.”
2. Once the stations are complete, TSW submit the tasks from each station.
