A rectangular short column 300 mm x 400 mm is subjected to a factored axial load of 1000 kN and factored uniaxial moment of 100 kNm about the major axis. Design both the longitudinal and transverse steel required for the column. Use the chart supplied appropriately. Use Fe 415 grade of steel and grade of concrete as given in Table 1.
