Application Form Directions
Step 1
Prior to completing the application for the first grade Spanish Immersion
Program at Burley-Glenwood Elementary School, the student must be
enrolled in the South Kitsap School District (SKSD). To enroll in SKSD,
contact your neighborhood elementary school or the South Kitsap
School District at 360.874.7000.
Step 2
Complete the Spanish Immersion Application Form
Step 3
Completed applications must be received by the South Kitsap School
District or postmarked by Friday, May 15, 2015.
Completed applications may be dropped off at or mailed to:

Placement Notification Letter
Placement decisions will be made the week of May 26, 2015. Once a student is placed in the first
grade Spanish Immersion Program at Burley-Glenwood Elementary, a notification letter will be mailed
to the student’s home inviting the student to enroll in the first grade Spanish Immersion class at
Burley-Glenwood Elementary. Parents will have approximately two weeks (by June 19, 2015) to
accept the placement in the Spanish Immersion first grade class at Burley-Glenwood Elementary.

______ If my child is invited to enroll in the first grade Spanish Immersion class at Burley-Glenwood
Elementary, I understand that I will have approximately two weeks (by June 19, 2015) to
accept the placement.
______ I understand that when I accept placement in the first grade Spanish Immersion class at
Burley-Glenwood Elementary, I must complete an open enrollment form if Burley-Glenwood
is not my home school or an Out-of-District enrollment form and South Kitsap School District
registration form if the South Kitsap School District is not my home school district.
______ I understand that if Burley-Glenwood is not my home school, I will be responsible for
providing transportation for my child and ensuring that he/she gets to school on time each
day and is picked up at dismissal time each day
______ I understand that placement in the Spanish Immersion Program at Burley-Glenwood is a six
(6) year commitment.
______ I understand that the parents’ role is to provide on-going support for their child in the
program and to continually enrich their child’s English language acquisition through reading
with and to their child and providing opportunities to enrich their child’s English vocabulary.
