How do we get across?

• A woman has two dogs, three rabbits and lettuce.

• She must cross a river.

• The boat is too small to carry all in one crossing.

• If she transported the dogs, the rabbits would eat the lettuce.

• If she transported the lettuce, the dogs would eat the rabbits.

• Question: How is she able to transport them all safely?

Solution

• She brings the rabbits across.

Leave the rabbits and returns to get dogs.

She brings the dogs across and returns with rabbits.

She leaves rabbits and goes across with the lettuce.

She returns to get rabbits.

• Statistics deals with collecting, organizing, and interpreting data. Data are pieces of information, which are often numerical. Large amounts of data can be organized in a frequency table. A frequency table shows the number of pieces of data that fall within given intervals.

Make a frequency table

• Step 1- Choose an appropriate interval and scale. Should include the least and the greatest value.

• Step 2- Draw a table with 3 columns and label the columns.

• Step 3- Complete the table.
