COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Teacher Cadet Class is designed for high school juniors/seniors who
are interested in the field of education and have followed the college
preparatory curriculum. Teacher Cadet is a fun and informative class for
anyone interested in education (whether the student decides to become
a teacher or not). The curriculum is divided into four units: The
Learner, The School, The Teacher and Teaching, and Culminating
Activities. It is also designed to teach students about different
personality types, learning styles, and development-physical, social, and
moral.
MISSION STATEMENT
To encourage academically able students who possess exemplary
interpersonal and leadership skills to consider teaching as a career and to
provide these talented future community leaders with insights about
teachers and schools so that they will be community advocates for
education.
ABOUT US
The North Carolina Teacher Cadet Program was founded by the NCAE
and is funded by the North Carolina Foundation for Public School
Children. It is an innovative yearlong or semester-block activity-based
curriculum for high school juniors and seniors. The course is designed to
promote a better understanding and create interest in those students
