George Washington Carver by Kyle
• George Washington Carver is
a scientist.
• He loved to study plants and
insects outdoors.
•George Washington Carver was a hero because he
taught people how to be better farmers.
•He started as a slave and got free in 1865. People
called him the plant doctor and later became a “plant
teacher”. He was the first African American teacher at
the Iowa Agricultural college,

•Sacagawea is a hero because she helped Lewis and Clark with
the expedition to find their way in a new land.
•She had to take care of a baby as well as helping out with the
expedition. I chose Sacagawea as my hero because she helped
Lewis and Clark make the expedition successful and have good
relations with the Indians.

• Meriwether Lewis is an
explorer hero
•Meriwether Lewis became a famous explorer when he travelled
west from Missouri to the Pacific Ocean and back with his good
friend William Clark. They had a woman named Sacagawea on the
expedition with them.
•I chose Meriwether Lewis as my hero because he is a traveller like
me and he inspires me to be like him when I grow up.

and wanted to helped other people after she got her own
freedom. She is a woman of great courage. She started the
underground railroad that allowed many slaves to gain
their freedom and that is just amazing to me
