Psalm 119:9-16
King James Version (KJV)
9Wherewithal
shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking
heed thereto according to thy word.
10With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not
wander from thy commandments.
11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin
against thee.
12Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
13With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy
mouth.
14I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in
all riches.
15I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy
ways.
16I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy
word.
Psalm 119:9-16
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
9Young
people can live a clean life by obeying your word.
10 I worship you with all my heart. Don't let me walk away
from your commands.
11I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from
sinning against you.
12I praise you, LORD! Teach me your laws.
13With my own mouth, I tell others the laws that you have
spoken.
14Obeying your instructions brings as much happiness as
being rich.
15I will study your teachings and follow your footsteps.
16I will take pleasure in your laws and remember your
words.
"The King James Bible is a cornerstone of our
culture and our language. Whatever our faith,
whatever we believe, we have to recognise that
the rhetorical power of this book, and in
particular its power to fuse history with
poetry, connects at the most fundamental level
with our own history and poetry."
