Search the repository to locate digital objects and their associated
image, text and metadata using a variety of search methods
including Boolean keyword, full-text, XML tag searching for
descriptive metadata elements and control number searches
Search any Z39.50 compliant library catalog directly from the
Portal – compatible with any integrated library system
Encoded Archival Description (EAD), Dublin Core and
MARCXML metadata is presented to the user in a sophisticated,
functional display

Custom Indexes - specified at the metadata element level,
extraction through the use of XPath definitions to help create
more meaningful XML indexes.

VALET
VALET is a highly configurable and customizable, webbased interface which:
Allows remote users to submit content into a VITAL or
FEDORATM repository
Supports handle submission of any file format
Allows contributors and other content creators to enter
metadata into configurable, form-based templates.
Allows for a multi-stage submission process -- any number
(from 0 to n) of review stages are supported after the initial
submission stage. This gives authorized staff the ability to edit,
delete or approve submitted content at each review stage prior
to ingest into the repository.
