Dialogical Conference
Wisdom & Peace in the Profession and Classroom
February 26, 2016
San Diego, California

Scripture: James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full
of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.
Description
The Christian Business Faculty Association Dialogical Conference advances the strategic
goals of the CBFA through faculty development in classroom faith integration and
scholarship. A dialogical conference turns “upside down” the activities of a traditional
professional conference through the organic construction of knowledge and collaboration.
A dialogical approach to faith integration achieves a convergence between biblical texts and
discipline-specific knowledge using faculty dialogue and contemplation. High-impact
learning and shared meaning is created by a group of faculty who complete required
preparation prior to the conference, interact during the conference guided by carefully
designed activities around a central biblical passage, and actively engage in a fast, free
flowing, “hot” learning environment. Take-aways from this approach include new
classroom exercises deeply bounded in scripture and critically analyzed by other
professors, which integrate faith into business disciplinary content and new ideas for faith
integration scholarship.
