1. Talking about future plans
a. Show the conjugation of ir
b. Show the conjugation of pensar
c. Something that is often confused is the formulas we have learned for expressing future
plans. You already know how to use ir to talk about going to a place. Such as “Voy a la
escuela” – I go to the school. The letter “a” indicates “to” a place. We use this exact
same expression but drop the place and add an infinitive verb to express the future:
“Voy a bailar” – I am going to dance or “Vamos a ir a la escuela” – We are going to go to
the school.
Pensar is a verb that you will conjugate and will be followed immediately by another
verb. Pensar alone means to think. “Pienso que tu eres especial” – I think you are
special. Pensar followed by a verb is used to express plans or what we think we will do.
“Pienso hacer mi tarea” – I plan to do my homework.
d. Ir +a + infinitive verb – Tell what the following people are going to do
i. Yo
ii. You are going to talk on the phone.
iii. She is going to scuba dive
iv. We are going to go to a graduation party
v. Y’all are going to be(temporary) busy
vi. They are going to call.
e. Pensar + infinitive verb – Tell what the following people are planning to do
i. Yo
ii. You plan to shave yourself.
iii. He plans to have plans.
iv. We plan to go to the movies.
v. Yall plan to begin
vi. They plan to come to our party.
