CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS AND PROCEDURES
Welcome back to Paul Robeson High School! I am excited about this year and the goals that we are going to
accomplish. This year, you will be challenged to give your 100% in this class. My BIG goal for all of you is to not
only be prepared for AP Calculus, but to increase your ACT by an average of 3-4 points. In order to make this year
a successful one, we must all start on the same page and stay there all year! The following are policies and
procedures you are expected to follow at all times.
Textbook(s) and Publisher(s): Pre-Calculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic;
Demana, Waits, Foley, Kennedy, 7th Edition, 2004.
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:




All school-wide rules apply in this classroom.
Bathroom and Locker Passes will not be given the first and last 15 minutes of class.
Make-up work will not be completed in class.
When you come to class, you are to pick up any materials left on the table or counter. Place any papers or
notes you need to give to your teacher in the INBOX facedown.
CLASS NORMS
To ensure that our classroom is safe, productive, and welcoming for all students, we must always abide by the
following guidelines:
 Value yourself and each other
 Respect the learning environment
 Be on-time and prepared
 Be persistent
 Be brave!!!!
CLASS MATERIALS
To complete the work that needs to be done in this class and to maximize your awesome potential as students, you’ll
need to come prepared to class every day. Here is what you’ll need to bring:
1. A 1.5 or 2 inch, 3-ring binder
2. 4 Dividers and Filler paper (you may need to get more later in the semester)
3. Pencils with erasers
4. Graphing calculator (TI-83 recommended)
5. Textbook: Precalculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic Seventh Edition
BINDER
Your binder will be graded at each test and checked randomly throughout the year for bonus points. Your binder
should be divided in to the following sections:
 Do Now
 Notes
 Classwork/Homework
 Quizzes/Tests/Test Corrections
GRADING POLICY
A grade sheet must be kept at the beginning of your binder, behind this syllabus. Grades will be determined by
using a point value system. Each assignment will be given a point total. In order to calculate your grade at any
point, add all the points you have earned by that point and divide this by the total points.
Homework:
5 pts.
Projects/Performance Tasks: 30-100 pts.
Quizzes:
10 pts.
Tests:
200 pts.
Binder:
