Honors Illustrated Geometry Dictionary
2015-2016
The purpose of this assignment is to apply geometric terms to real life
pictures. For example a picture of a ladder could be an example of two
parallel lines cut by transversals. Pictures can be printed off the internet, cut
out of magazines, or newspapers. Be creative! This assignment will count
as one test grade so do a good and thorough job.
The assignment should be submitted in a folder with the title on the front or
in the form of a Power Point. Each term should have a picture and a
definition. THE PART OF THE PICTURE THAT ILLUSTRATES THE
WORD SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED!!! EVEN ON THE POWER POINT
PRESENTATION!! The following terms must be included in the folder.

For ideas of real life examples, look at the illustrations in the textbook. You
may have to draw lines on the pictures and label points in order to fully
explain the term. Example: on page 227 there is an example of a right
triangle formed by a roller coaster frame. That same picture could be used
to show a rectangle, parallel lines or even a translation. The possibilities are
limitless!!! REMEMBER DIAGRAMS AND PICTURES ARE NOT THE
SAME THING! And one picture can be used for no more than two words.
