Seminar One (8 points)
Case A:
“Case Study 1.1: Tesco”, on pages 4-5. Two questions to be discussed are on p.5. In addition, consider
how these logistical considerations are related to Tescos overall business model and image.
Case B:
“Case Study 2.1: Managing events and promotions in the retail sector”, on pages 37-38. One questions
to be discussed is on p.38. In addition, consider how this issue relates to the marketing strategy and
possibly find other examples from the retail sector with similar business problem.
Seminar Two (8 points)
Case A:
“Case Study 4.3: Centralised distribution at Nike”, on pages 114-115. Four questions to be discussed are
on p.115. In addition, consider the options in relation to CSR (including social and environmental issues)
and possibly other examples of companies facing similar trade-off.
Case B:
“Case Study 4.4: Time versus cost in global supply chains”, on pages 126-128. Three questions to be
discussed is on p.128. In addition, consider the options in relation to CSR (including social and
environmental issues) and possibly other examples of companies facing similar trade-off.
Seminar Three (8 points)
Case:
“Case Study 9.3: Supply chain internationalization in the Marche shoe district”, on pages 282-284. One
questions to be discussed is on p.284. In addition, include other relevant business and market aspects in
the analysis apart from logistics.
