2015 IEC-AEP SCHOLARSHIP
IEC-AEP is pleased to offer one scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a student pursuing a career in the
environmental field. Students currently attending four-year colleges and universities in the Inland Empire (including
Cal Poly Pomona) are encouraged to apply. Winners will be chosen based on their academic merit, letters of
recommendation and their essay response as detailed on the scholarship application.
The following award will be available through the 2015 IEC-AEP Scholarship:

$1,000 award for a full-time undergraduate/graduate student (12 units or more) AND includes
AEP Student membership for a year.
ELIGIBILITY
1.
Students must currently be studying the fields of environmental science, policy, planning, research, design,
law, and/or other related disciplines.
2.
Students must attend a four-year college/university or graduate program located within the Inland Empire
(including Cal Poly Pomona).
3.
Applicants must be enrolled in a major program related to the environmental profession (i.e., environmental
science, urban/city/regional planning, biology, archaeology, etc) at an Inland Empire school during the
2015-2016 school year.
4.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Each scholarship winner must provide proof of enrollment
for Fall 2015 before the award is disbursed.
5.
Scholarship is open to the public.
HOW TO APPLY
The application form is available for download in MS Word format at http://ie.califaep.org/index.php/scholarship.
All application materials must be postmarked by November 21, 2015 to IEC-AEP Scholarship Committee,
c/o Kevin Cunningham, Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, 1995 Market
Street, Riverside, CA 92501 or emailed to aep.inland.empire.chapter@gmail.com for consideration. Refer to
the application form for additional information on the application process and requirements – transcripts, a
written essay, and letters of recommendation are necessary. Notification of award will be made by December 7 ,
2015. The 2015 IEC-AEP Scholarship winner must be present at the IEC-AEP Holiday Party on Thursday,
December 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to receive the scholarship.

TRANSCRIPTS: Transcripts should be included in the application submittal. Website printouts of unofficial transcripts will be
accepted.
3.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Two (2) letters of recommendation from persons not related to you, including a minimum of
one professor. Any letter from a professor must be on school letterhead and include a signature.
4.
ESSAY (TWO-PAGE MAXIMUM): An essay must be included with the application submittal. The essay should address
each of the following three areas:

Any personal experiences that have shaped your decision to pursue a career in the environmental field;

Any relevant research, education, field work, internships, or professional experience and explain how they relate to your
environmental career goals;

Specify what you plan to do in the environmental field after you obtain your degree, and how it would relate to IEC-AEP’s
mission statement to “enhance, maintain, and protect the natural and human environment.”
