Strategies for future
athletic success
STRATEGY 1: KEEP ALL DOORS OPEN (Target
D1/D2 “Qualifier” Status)
• D1 Qualifier
• Graduate high school
• 16 Core courses
• 10 of 16 before senior year (7 of these 10 must be
English, math and science); these courses and grades
are “locked in”
• GPA and SAT/ACT on sliding scale (2.3 minimum GPA)
• The “Academic Redshirt Year”
• SENIORS: You need only the 16 core courses
and the GPA/Test Score on the current sliding
scale (2.0 min GPA); No Academic Redshirt Year

Strategies for future
athletic success
STRATEGY 2: BE OPEN TO ALTERNATIVES
 D1 VS. D2
 NCAA VS. NAIA
 DIVISION 3
 CCC such as SRJC
 An opportunity to develop athletically, academically,
socially
 A good option when you are uncertain and/or not ready
for a big decision yet
 You still should target NCAA QUALIFIER STATUS!!! This
leaves opportunities open.
