SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Managed customer service and system engineering activities including a 40-person
call center operation – designed Broadband over Power Line (BPL) networks for
rural utility cooperatives that incorporated improved design and deployment rules
allowing for the delivery of internet access and smart-grid services. Result:
Improved BPL performance and overall customer service by eliminating mode
interference and noise issues within specific networks and at boundary areas where
multiple networks converged.
Directed global automotive segment focused on electronic control of all-wheel-drive
(AWD) vehicle stability systems. Established product roadmaps for global customers
and led all business development, program management, product development, and
launch activities for multiple vehicle programs. Direct responsibilities included
converting overall business unit goals into specific goals and plans for the product
segment. Each program manager had a set of diverse goals and actions that were
developed, monitored, adjusted, and evaluated quarterly in regards to overall
accomplishment. Goals and action plans included specific targets for managing
project schedules and process improvement activities, achieving required production
and quality metrics, meeting sales and profit expectations including cost reduction
activities, and supporting new business acquisitions. Result: Global market leader
for AWD controls with 50% captured market share – GM, Ford, Chrysler, HMC, VW,
Mercedes, BMW, Magna, and Borgwarner – defined location exit strategy for product
segment after acquisition.
Defined and developed the market strategy, business plan and product roadmaps
for a next-generation optical communications system targeted at the small/medium
enterprise segment. Result: Established, recruited, and trained a 30-employee
development team at the Boston University Photonics Center and led all activities to
obtain the necessary funding from Boston-based venture capital groups.
Developed/Managed engineering, marketing, and customer service teams including
critical process development and post-acquisition and consolidation of $50 million
USD telecom business. Result: Consolidated business locations - recruited, hired
and trained a 15-person marketing team and a 50-person product engineering team developed organizational models, roles/responsibilities, coordinated marketing
communications with key stakeholders, implemented new processes for all business
areas including key metrics and corrective actions to improve overall responsiveness
to customer needs.
Created/Launched an internet-based distribution strategy for bundled service
offerings with major ISP partners, including competitive analysis, product positioning,
pricing models, and consumer value propositions.
Impact:
Established
relationships with Sprint, BBN, PSInet, UUNET, Earthlink, Mindspring, AOL, Prodigy,
and Epoch Networks to distribute/bundle internet service with various access
devices including analog and ISDN technology.
Established technical/customer centers in European region for supporting global
network operators.
Responsibilities included managing regulatory approvals,
network installation and deployments, and overall customer service of international
data communications equipment. Achievements: Introduced multiple products
approved for sale in over twenty countries, expanded overall distribution network and
managed installations of CompuServe networks across Europe during a 3-year
expatriate assignment in Paris, France.
