A World of Things to Do!
Ever since we were kids, we all knew that’s where the hidden treasure was. A treasure that could be
virtually anything, and was always as big as our imaginations. To find such riches today, all we need to do
is follow the roads that lead to the Keweenaw Peninsula. The treasures you’ll take home are Pure
Michigan.
Fall color season in the Keweenaw is one of the best-kept secrets of the Upper Midwest.
The hills come alive with bold and brilliant color created by the special mix of sugar maples, birch and
oaks of the northern forests. Late September to mid-October is an excellent time to tour the Keweenaw
and enjoy the roads that wind through the colorful landscape. Brockway Mountain Drive is a definite must
see. You can also get right into the midst of the color along one of the many hike or bike trails located on
the Keweenaw. Fall brings warm days, cool nights and spectacular color alongside brilliant blue skies and
majestic Lake Superior.

Bond Falls State Park
46.4088°N 89.1329°W
Bond Falls is a 50-foot high waterfall of the Ontonagon River. The river drops 875 feet down from Bond
Falls Flowage, which is perched on the highlands of the western Upper Peninsula, to Lake Superior.
Bond Falls is a natural waterfall, but it has been enhanced by a nearby dam built by the Upper Peninsula
Power Company (UPPCO). There is a rest-area park below the dam and waterfall, from which the falls
can be admired. The Ontonagan River and Bond Falls Flowage are separately stocked with brook trout.
This is the best single waterfall in the Western U.P, and the second best waterfall in Michigan. If you are
in the Western U.P., possibly on your way to or from the Porcupines or Copper Harbor, this is a definitely
worth a stop.
Bond Falls is in the western U.P. on Bond Falls Rd, east of Pauding MI. This is the most impressive
waterfall in Michigan with the possible exception of Tahquamenon Falls. The main drop is 40 feet high
and 100+ feet wide. Above the main falls are a series of cascades and rapids that must drop a total of 20
feet. The water level is controlled by a dam, and a steady flow over the falls is maintained for scenic
reasons. Of course during the spring melt the flow is much higher.
Bond Fall is a Michigan State Scenic Site. The site was renovated around 2003. The old parking area
was upstream of the falls, and a steep concrete stairway led to the base of the falls. The new parking
area is near the base of the falls, and a level boardwalk leads you to prime views of the falls. The area is
not quite as wild looking as it once was, but it is accessible to everyone. The trail on the east side of the
falls is still wild with some steep rocky climbs. There are other trails that go off into the woods, and there
are campsites nearby.
In addition to being very picturesque, this is a very popular waterfall, and unless you visit early in the
morning or in winter, you are going to have a lot of company.
West UP – Bond Falls
Bond Falls is one of those "best kept secret" spots on the Western Upper Peninsula that you want to
make sure you do not miss. This beautiful water fall is located on the middle branch of the Ontonagon
River near Paulding. Although it does not get the "press" of more famous U.P. water falls, Bond Falls has
a large following of admirers and had even been part of a calendar listing the most scenic natural places
in the world!

Lake of the Clouds 云湖
冲着这个名字也要去看看
Lake of the Clouds is a lake located in Ontonagon County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of
Michigan within the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The lake is situated in a valley between
two ridges in the Porcupine Mountains.
Nestled high in the 58,000 acres of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Walk only a short
distance over a fine woodland trail or the ADA access trail to the escarpment and view the entire reach of
the Lake of the Clouds hundreds of feet below. Over 80 miles of marked hiking trails provide enchanting
scenery at every bend. Trails include four secluded lakes, waterfalls, and high surrounding peaks. In
every season, the "Porkies" are a wilderness retreat.Commune with nature, but rest assured that modern
conveniences are nearby. Some of the Midwest's finest alpine and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling,
hunting, fishing, swimming, and rockhounding may be enjoyed in the "Porkies" areas.
A new visitors' center off the South Boundary Road acquaints people with the features and activities of
the entire park. There is a mini-museum and a multi-media presentation in a theater. The visitors center
will enhance your enjoyment of the "Porkies." Climb the Lookout Tower at Summit Peak. Fine
dining/lodging facilities are available in the immediate area.
Whether viewed from the easily accessible scenic overlook or after a semi-rugged trek to the land below,
Lake of the Clouds in The Wilds of Michigan is a sight to behold. Eagles soar overhead while the deer lap
from the Lake.
Take a 100-yard stroll to see the broad sweep of the Carp River Valley that includes the sheer cliffs of the
escarpment, the lofty swell of the Porcupine Range and the blue expanse of Lake of the Clouds nestled
300 feet below. This is one of Michigan’s premier scenic locations. Don’t forget your binoculars and
camera!

of the sights that can be seen on a clear day. A viewing deck on the way up to the summit provides a
panorama of the Little Carp River valley and ranks as one of the best views of the park.
Presque Isle River
Best waterfalls:
1. Bonanza Falls - Amid a dazzling forest, enjoy the countless rivulets as the Iron River washes over a
scalloped ridge of rock. Located one mile south of Silver City.
2. Bond Falls - In an area with hundreds of waterfalls, Bond Falls stands out as one of the best. See
water rushing down a 50-foot drop. Located in Bond Falls State Park off Hwy 45.
3. Little Union Gorge Falls - Savor the sight of this long ribbon of water. Located in the Porcupine
Mountains Wilderness State Park, which is home to more than 90 waterfalls.
4,5&6. Manabezho, Manido and Nawadaha Waterfalls
These three falls on the Presque Isle River are just plain gorgeous in the fall. Located off Hwy 519 at the
westernmost edge of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
7. O Kun De Kun Falls - O Kun De Kun Falls is one of the most impressive sights in the Porcupine
Mountains. Listen to the cascading water as you and enjoy the various autumn hues of the surrounding
forest. Located 12 miles south of Rockland.

Copper Harbor (Brockway) Mountain Drive, MI
Scenic Drive on R41, 10 miles or so / Brockway Mountain Dr.
In any direction from Copper Harbor, you'll find the perfect scenic auto tours. If you are more
adventurous, the rustic roads that lead to more remote areas will reveal a diversity of landscapes.
There are numerous pullouts and parks where you can enjoy the view and a pit stop. While Copper
Harbor and surrounding environs are definitely remote country (don't expect to see any fast food signs or
7-11's in this neck of the woods), you will find places to fuel up both travelers and vehicles as you journey
through the Keweenaw.
Brockway Mountain Drive - This scenic mountain drive takes you 735 feet above Copper Harbor for a
breathtaking view where the mountains meet Lake Superior. This is a MUST do while in Copper Harbor.
Catch a sunset or sunrise on top of the world.
Copper Harbor Circle Tours - There are two routes leading to and from Copper Harbor. The Lake
Superior shoreline along Michigan Highway 26 is an absolutely amazing alternate route to the peninsula's
main thoroughfare, US Highway 41. You will want to travel both these roadways as you explore the
Keweenaw.
Pure Michigan 2014
M-26 - Lake Superior Circle Tour - M-26 between Copper Harbor and Eagle River is also known as
Lakeshore Drive. Lake Superior reigns as the prime attraction here. The drive is part of the Lake Superior
Circle Tour and has been voted some of the best scenery of the tour.
Visit LS Circle Tour Website
US Highway 41 - A Michigan Scenic Heritage Route - US-41's northernmost eleven miles offers a drive
through a tunnel of trees. Beautiful in any season - breathtaking in the fall. As you travel north on US-41
into Keweenaw County, you will see why this stretch has been designated a state Historic Scenic Route.
It is the northernmost section of US-41, which stretches the length of the nation, from Florida to Copper
Harbor.
Seasonal & Back Roads - For those of you who like to get off the "Beaten Path", the area offers miles of
dirt roads and seasonal roads. The seasonal roads are generally fine for any vehicle, although there are a
few that are pretty rough. It is advisable to ask directions, get a map or both when venturing out into the
woods.
Brockway Mountain Dr
This is the most popular vista Copper Harbor has to offer. Signs point the way up Brockway Mountain
Drive, just off to your left a short distance from the harbor. The absolutely spectacular drive shows the
surrounding country, Lake Superior and the village to absolute perfection.
It is the highest scenic roadway between the Alleghenies and the Rockies. There are several pull-offs on
the way up the mountain. At the peak, there's a small gift shop and a wonderful 360 degree view of the
area. At this point you can go back to the harbor the way you came up. Or, you can do the circle tour and
continue down the other side of the mountain back onto M-26 for a beautiful drive back to Copper Harbor
along Lake Superior.
The top of the mountain is a superb spot for a sunset. Because of the darkness (no electricity up there) it
is also an ideal spot for stargazing and catching the Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights if they are
making an appearance.
Brockway Mountain is an unusually good location to view and survey the spring migration of birds of prey
aka: Raptors, along the Central Migration Flyway. It has been recognized as an IBA (Important Bird
Area) by the National Audubon Society due to the number of raptors and other migrating birds that take
that path. The summit of Brockway Mountain is part of the Keweenaw Coastal Wildlife Corridor owned by
Eagle Harbor Township. The summit is home to the Brockway Mountain Hawk Watch, organized by
Copper Harbor Birding and Copper Country Audubon and aspiring to continue the study over several
consecutive years in order to obtain the long-term data necessary for comprehensive analysis.
The drive opens in the spring when the snow is gone from the road and closes in late fall when it
becomes part of the snowmobile trail system. Snow-shoers are given a real challenge and are rewarded
for their efforts. It's a great way to view our winter wonderland!
The Superior Coast
The Keweenaw is Michigan’s Copper Country! Here is where the largest fresh waters on earth create a
peninsula called the Keweenaw. Where adventure falls from the sky, grows from the ground and springs
from Lake Superior.

A trip to Copper Harbor is off the beaten path, but that's what makes it nice. Plan to spend some time
and hang out for a while..….you won't be disappointed! The friendly people, affordable prices, fresh air,
fine cuisine, unique shops, amazing scenery, historical significance and options for outdoor recreation
combine to enhance the whole experience. There is so much to see and do, many features are unique to
the area. Take time to see it all!
Copper Harbor is also the Gateway to Isle Royale National Park. The Isle Royale Queen IV takes visitors
to the cherished island 50 miles away in about 3 hours.
Nature Wonders
A nature lovers paradise, the Copper Harbor area is long known for it's beautiful and interesting scenic
attractions. The area is full of wonders to explore and the photo opportunities are endless! Folks who
have never visited before are always amazed and happily surprised by the outstanding natural beauty. It's
like Mother Nature saved the best for last, or in this case the furthest north!
We are located along Lake Superior, the largest and most beautiful, freshwater lake in the world! The lake
is impressive and seems to have a personality all its own changing daily, sometimes hourly.
Brockway Mountain Drive is the most popular vista Copper Harbor has to offer. Signs point the way up
Brockway Mountain Drive, just off to your left a short distance from the harbor. The absolutely spectacular
drive shows the surrounding country, Lake Superior and the village to absolute perfection
There are many area waterfalls and abundant wildflowers which constantly change with the seasons.
The skies yield wonders of their own. You may see the Aurora Borealis aka northern lights. The best seat
in the house is atop Brockway Mountain. This is also a fantastic spot to stargaze and watch the sunset.
The sunsets and sunrises are often dramatic and always beautiful.
The Keweenaw Peninsula is a migrating bird magnet and most of the activity winds up in Copper Harbor
resulting in a spectacular migration season. Brockway Mountain also known as "hawk highway" is home
to massive raptor migrations that take place in spring. The annual Keweenaw's Migratory Bird Day
Festival is held in Copper Harbor offering great birding, presentations, bird walks and more.
Copper Harbor is hidden in the far north against a backdrop of lakes, mountains and pristine forest. It is
the home of numerous wildlife species including the American Black Bear.
The fall color season rivals anywhere else in the country! Our mixed woodlands featuring a variety of
deciduous trees blended with an abundance of coniferous species deliver a stunning color show in
autumn. The “Tree Tunnel” US-41 coming into Copper Harbor is literally jaw dropping in the fall.
Due to our location; being surrounded on 3 sides by Lake Superior, our color season is later than places
south of us. This is important to know, as we peak a couple weeks later than other UP towns.
Do some berry picking in the fruiting season. The relatively unexplored area surrounding Copper Harbor
could yield a nice berry patch. There are only a few places that the Thimbleberry plant calls home and
one is here! The berries are one of the local favorite wonders.
Fresh, clean air and scenic beauty abound. Come and explore, you won't be disappointed!

Copper Harbor
Hunter's Point Park,湖边的石头很有个性。公园里有一段石子路,建议之前把车胎检查一下确保安全。

Munising/Picture Rock points of interest & Hiawatha National Forest
Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore is
located along the 40 mile stretch of
Lake Superior's shoreline in Michigan's
Upper Peninsula, between Munising
and Grand Marais. You can get a
detailed map of the area from the
Pictured Rocks headquarters in
Munising.
Alger County lies along the mid section
of Michigan's Lake Superior shoreline.
It contains the Pictured Rocks National
Lake Shore, the Grand Island National
Recreation Area, parts of the Hiawatha
National forest and is full of things to
do in all seasons. In the winter cross
country skiing, ice climbing and
snowmobiling are popular. A dog sled
race also passes through town. In
summer boat cruises, hiking and biking
are among the many recreational
opportunities. Fall has its colors, and
Spring is the best time to see the many
waterfalls. Some of them are roadside
waterfalls like Alger Falls, but others
like Chapel Falls and Rock River Falls
require some hiking. The area includes
two 100 foot waterfalls, Laughing
Whitefish Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.
Munising is a city on the southern shore of Lake Superior on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of
Michigan. The population was 2,355 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Alger County.
Where is Munising, MI located?
Munising, located in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, is nestled in the heart of the Hiawatha
National Forest, is the gateway to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and also features Grand Island
National Recreational Area, only .5 miles from shore. The city of Munising is located on the southern
shore of Lake Superior on Munising Bay, and is roughly 40 miles east of Marquette (the U.P.’s biggest
town). With a population of just over 2,500, it has a small-town charm but bustles with many
activities throughout the year. Munising also boasts over 15 waterfalls, 5 lighthouses and several beautiful
recreation areas.
Munising is the population center of Alger country. From downtown Munising you can head east on H-58
to find Munising Falls, Tannery Falls and MNA Falls on the east end of town. If you continue farther east
into the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore you can find Miners Falls off of Miners Falls Road. Chapel
Falls and Spray Falls require long hikes to reach. Sable Falls is a short walk from your car, but about a 90
minute drive from Munising.
