Little Nesley Cottage
On Arrival
On reaching the entrance of Nesley, proceed along the avenue of trees. Little
Nesley is situated on Nesley Farm itself; it is the first cottage as you come up the
drive on the right hand side.
The main front door will be locked.
You will receive two sets of keys – please call us immediately if you lose the keys,
and on your day of departure, please leave them on the kitchen worktop. Please
make sure the front door remains locked.
Little Nesley Cottage
Inside the cottage
The cottage offers three bedrooms, two en suites, a sitting room, dining room, kitchen, and
utility room. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, a
cooker with an electric oven and hob.
In the utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also an iron and ironing
board together with vacuum cleaner.
The kitchen is equipped with crockery, cutlery and glassware.
Instructions on how to use the kitchen appliances can be found in the top drawer in the
kitchen.
Fire alarms, extinguisher and blanket: both the extinguisher and blanket are in the kitchen
area. The fire blanket is mounted on the kitchen wall.
We have smoke detectors in the cottage, so please bear this in mind if you are cooking!
If the detectors are set off, you must press the red button to reset so the alarm is functional
once more, the alarm will only stop once the smoke has gone.
First Aid: You will also find a First Aid box in the utility room cupboard – please let us know if you
need to use any of the First Aid items so we can replace them for future guests. You will also
find a torch in utility room cupboard.
Heating: During the winter, the heating is on constantly. In the summer, the heating comes on
twice a day. There is a thermostat to the side of the tumble dryer to regulate the temperature
in the house. We politely ask visitors to be aware we try to operate a ‘green’ policy – if you find
the heating unnecessary, please turn the temperature down.
Little Nesley Cottage
Inside the cottage
The main bathroom includes a power shower which is very simple to use, the
temperature is controlled by a simple mixer tap. To activate the power shower
you need to pull the cord to the side of the bath. The second bathroom also has
a power shower; please use the extractor fan by turning the light on to avoid a
build up of condensation in the house.
There is a hairdryer in the master bedroom.
In the unlikely event of any problems with the plumbing, electrics or gas supply,
please contact us as soon as possible. If there is an emergency and you cannot
get hold of anyone there are numbers supplied below.
In the sitting room, you will find a stereo with IPod dock. There is also a colour
television, with built in DVD player – the remote for the television will be left on the
coffee table.
The sitting room also has a log burner ideal after a refreshing walk! If you would
like to use this please let us know and we can supply logs and firelighters. We will
provide your first basket of all you need for the burner and there after will be a £5
charge for additional baskets of logs etc.
Little Nesley Cottage

Garden: If you require equipment for sitting out or having a BBQ please contact
us so this can be arranged. We make a small charge of £10 for use of the BBQ
and this cost includes a bag of charcoal.
Please ensure children are supervised at all times, and please do not wonder
around the farm. This is for you own comfort and safety as tractors are often in
and out of the farm yard. You are welcome to walk down the driveway; we have
also added some maps to this information pack so you can enjoy the lovely
surroundings you have come to visit.
Rubbish: The rubbish bin and recycling box are at the front of the cottage by the

Useful Information
Lighting the Wood burner
Open the doors – right hand door first by rotating the door knob.
Place firelighter in centre with kindling around and over and then place a couple of
larger logs in.
Light the firelighter and close the doors.
The two lower slides in doors should be slid to open the air vents.
The top air vents should be left open all the time when burning.
Once the kindling is alight and the two logs are starting to burn, close the lower slides
by about a ¼.
From now on all parts of the burner will become very hot and a glove should be used
for any contact.
The log burner must not be used with the doors left open.
The aim is not to have a roaring fire but a steady burn, so occasionally add a log or
two to keep everything ticking over with a medium flame alongside using the lower
air vents.
Please do not leave the burner unattended for long without closing all vents.
Fires generally burn better with a layer of ash in the base. Do not worry about
cleaning out the grate unless the ash is literally falling out of the door, if it becomes
necessary to remove some ash then please use the metal bucket and shovel to
remove some of the ash, which can be spread on the garden.
