Living Above Your Circumstances
Expecting Joy
You have no control over your circumstances, but you
have 100% control over your perspective
Matthew 6:20-21
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or
steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
1. Expect only God to provide the LOVE and the sense of
belonging you long for.
Romans 8:37-39
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him
who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to
come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other
created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2. Expect God to be FAITHFUL
2 Timothy 1:12
For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed;
for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is
able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
3. Expect God to be GOOD.
Psalm 25:8-10
8
Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners
in the way. 9 He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the
humble His way. 10 All the paths of the LORD are
lovingkindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and
His testimonies.
Romans 8:32
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for
us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
4. Expect God to PROVIDE for your needs.
Philippians 4:19
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches
in glory in Christ Jesus.
5. Expect God to GUARD your heart and mind
Philippians 4:5b-7
…The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of
God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

6. Expect God to WORK in your life
Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a
good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
7. Expect God to work even through the bad things in your
life FOR YOUR GOOD.
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for
good to those who love God, to those who are called
according to His purpose.
8. Expect God to work according to HIS TIMING.
Galatians 6:9
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap
if we do not grow weary.
2 Thessalonians 3:13
But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.
9. Expect God to STRENGTHEN you.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Him (lit “in Him”) who strengthens
me.
