Production Supervisor

Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company, a privately held company with almost 90 years of success as a quality food manufacturer, is currently recruiting Production Supervisors. The positions will be at the

Company’s production facility in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.

The Production Supervisor leads and coordinates daily shift operations to assure the manufacture of products consistent with quality, quantity, safety, and cost requirements. Supervisors plan and assign work, enforce policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Direct hourly employees in all aspects of the production and packaging process

• Monitor the lines for yield improvement and measure productivity

• Comply with the terms of the local labor agreements, state and federal law

• Implement good housekeeping standards and safety

• Train, develop and evaluate employees

• Keep management informed of developments as they occur

• Maintain department records

Job Requirements include:

• Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or a related degree or at least 5 years experience as a Production Supervisor

• Must be available to work any assigned shift, including 2nd or 3rd shift assignment, weekend and holiday overtime as required

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures and understanding of basic baking and packaging technology

• Strong troubleshooting skills, with a drive to reduce/eliminate waste. Good mechanical aptitude with a hands-on mentality a plus

• Knowledge of basic math, oral and written communication skills and computer literacy

• Leadership interest and ability required to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output

• MUST PASS physical, drug and background check

JD Project Engineer

Project Engineer:

A project engineer researches, plans, and designs mechanical and production systems on assigned projects. Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical systems. Responsible for the coordination, organization and communication of project elements to the various disciplines involved.

Job Function:

Plans, schedules, and coordinates all technical activities on assigned projects.

Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, engineering practices and federal and state regulations

Facilitates effective communication and coordination on projects between all disciplines/participants

Collects and summarizes information and trends, recommends action.

Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving issues

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements Include:

BSME or related engineering degree

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures

MUST pass physical, drug and background check

JD Corporate QA Manager

Schulze and & Burch Biscuit Company, a privately held company with 90 years of success as a quality food manufacturer, is currently recruiting a QA Manager. The position will be at the Company’s production facility on the south side of Chicago.

The QA Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall food safety. Job responsibilities will include functions that develop and maintain quality assurance programs and systems to ensure that products meet customer expectations, safe quality food standards and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

Job Functions include:

• Review, revise and update quality procedures and policies to ensure conformity of product to highest standards.

• Revise and update the quality control manual to incorporate statistical control programs and inspection procedures program.

• Revise, update and approve ingredient specifications on a scheduled or as needed basis.

• Review, monitor and coordinate updates to the Approved Supplier Program.

• Revise and maintain a supplier quality index to assure that only high-quality vendors are retained.

• Prepare quality reports as required by customers and by staff personnel, and keep all departments informed of supplier performance.

• Maintain contact with the supplier’s quality representatives and company personnel to discuss and to resolve quality concerns as required.

• Perform internal audit processes and procedures ensuring quality standards.

• Monitor quality related training programs for employees.

• Manage, train, review and evaluate employees, maintain and enforce company policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements include:

• Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Micro-Biology, Engineering, Food Science, or a related degree and 5 to 8 years experience in food manufacturing.

• Must be available to work any assigned shift, weekends and holiday overtime as required.

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and understanding of food science and food safety.

• Knowledge of basic math, oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.

• Leadership interest and ability required to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output.

Quality Systems Administrator

Position Responsibilities: The Quality Systems Administrator at Schulze Burch Searcy operations and

Yamell Operations LLC is a joint responsibilities position which includes the development, maintenance and execution of a cGMP compliant quality system in both locations.

The Quality Systems Administrator responsibilities include oversight of the documentation of the quality system, regulatory and notified body compliance and enforcement of policies and procedures within the quality system.

The Quality Systems Administrator responsibilities also include assuring that all documents follow change control procedures and are conducted in accordance to all applicable SPOs while ensuring good documentation practices are followed.

The Quality Systems Administrator responsibilities include maintaining all Masters Batch Records and quality control records to ensure current record are used and history files are properly maintained.

Key Duties:

Maintain the integrity of the quality system

Maintain the integrity HACCP plan

Manage the inputs to the Quality System and assembly KPI output reporting to the QA managers at both sites

Assemble the KPI outputs for quarterly management review meetings.

Conduct out of Specification investigations and report findings to the QA manager at both sites.

Maintain central filing ensuring records are complete and transferred to central filling as required

Monitor quality attributes and measure quality KPI’s in a continual improvement environment

Support the operations team efforts and provide technical assistance with training and sanitation

Support the supply chain team efforts and provide accurate timely feedback related to material quality issues

Support the safety team efforts and provide technical assistance with training and chemical control

Openly participate in meetings with corporate and local management

Exhibit continuity to the site supporting corporate and local management and quality assurance policies

Keep management informed of developments as they occur

Be engaged in the day-to-day running of the business by performing tasks beyond normal/baseline job responsibilities, participating in team or business improvement meetings and initiative positioned toward improving business results.
