Course Description: Why do we do what we do? How do our minds work? Why is that music
always playing at the mall? What influence does environment have on behavior? These and
many other fascinating questions will be answered through the units of study in this course.
Units:
* This is a tentative schedule for the year. If more/less time is needed to master a unit, the
schedule will be amended and information will be provided to the students/parents.
Supplies: Students will need to have a three-ring binder with paper and/or a spiral notebook with
pocket dividers. They will also need blue and black pens and colored pencils.

Make up work is the responsibility of the student and is required within 5 days of an absence unless
extenuating circumstances deem more time is necessary. All missed assignments will be keyed into
the gradebook with a 0 until the work is made up. Test grades lower than a C (75) may be retaken
only after the student has received additional tutorial/remediation with the teacher.
Grades will be maintained in PowerTeacher and can be accessed through the Parent Portal on the
HHS website at http://www.berkeley.k12.sc.us/HasnahanHigh.cfm. If you have any questions or
concerns about grades, please contact me directly via email or phone as soon as the concern arises.
Class Rules and Responsibilities:
ATTENDANCE: You are allowed a total of 5 absences for the semester. Any absences over 5
may result in a loss of credit. Make up work is the responsibility of the student. Late
assignments will result in a loss of 5 points per school day the work is late.
ATTITUDE: The right attitude is crucial to the learning environment. Poor manners or lack of
self-discipline will not be tolerated.
ATTENTION: Students are in the classroom to learn and take part in the education experience.
The student’s attention to the instructor is as important as the instructor’s attention to them.
APPROPRIATENESS: You have been taught right from wrong all your life. If it is the right
thing to do, do it. If it is wrong, don’t do it. If in doubt, don’t do it until you find out for sure.
Plagiarism, profanity, cheating, lying, etc. will not be tolerated.
Other Policies to abide by:
No food is to be eaten while inside the classroom. Only drinks or water in containers that can be
closed will be allowed.
Students should be respectful of the learning environment in the school. No trash, graffiti on
desks or handling of other’s property without permission is allowed.
