 A complete written proposal and resume(s)

Proposal Requirements
 3 Pages of content, 12-point Times New Roman,
one-inch margins
 Written for broad audience of scholars
3 Pages include:
1. Title of the project
2. Project Significance
3. Process (Creative) Proposed Methodology
(Research)
4. Anticipated Outcomes
5. Timeline
6. Budget
Requirements
1. Title of the project: List the title of the project at
the beginning of the proposal. Do not include a title
page.
2. Project Significance: A paragraph describing why
the project is important. If Research-connect to
body of literature. If Creative discuss impact of
project in context.
3. Process (Creative) Proposed Methodology
(Research)
4. Anticipated Outcomes: connect back to
significance

5. Timeline: Include a detailed timeline illustrating how
you will go about creating the project.
6. Budget: See the details on allowable budget items
on the website. Be accurate and complete. Keep
budget less than amount applied for.
 These sections may be single spaced and/or in the
form of a table.

7. References/Bibliography - All sources used in the
development of this proposal must be properly cited
using formatting consistent with your field of study.
 Not part of 3-page limit!
 No more than 1 page
 No footnoting.

8. A one-page resume for each student investigator
involved in this project must be included.
 Beyond general work history
 Conveys student is capable of doing work
 Include coursework, related academic experiences,
honors, GPA
• Optional Appendix: This appendix may not exceed
one page in length. This appendix should not include
any parts of sections 1-8 listed above
*Note, resume(s) and appendix are not part of 3-page
limit

 Is proposal double spaced?
 Is proposal no more than 3 pages?
 Before submitting online be sure PDF conversion
doesn’t change margins or spacing
 Did I get my mentor’s signature on the hard-copy
of “Application for Project Support”
How are the grants awarded?
 All accepted proposals are evaluated against the
same rubric.
 The top scoring proposals are listed in order and
sent to the Foundation Committee for review.
 The Foundation Committee selects those to be
awarded Foundation Grants and the remaining
proposals come back to the URC.
 Remaining proposals are awarded according to
their rank until all the available funds are
exhausted.

and Humanities, Business,
Education, SET, Social and
Behavorial
Sciences, Library
Things to consider
 Write to a general audience - be clear and avoid
jargon if possible.
 Spend time on your budget - do not request
equipment & clearly indicate what you will need.
(avoid gift certificates)
 If you wish to be considered for all grants,
illustrate how you will alter your budget.
 Indicate whether or not you need IRB or IACUC
approval.

 Talk to your mentor!
 Spend time on your timeline - show a clear plan
that aligns with your process/method.
 If you are in a large group - designate a lead
author and contact person(s) who will see you
through the entire project including the
conference.
 Write early so you can get your questions
answered.
 Don’t forget to get your mentor’s signature.

2.) Submit paper copy of Application for Project
Support to MH 265. MUST be signed by your faculty
mentor.
