“When we sing, we pray twice.” Let us sing during Mass.
Right now the Adult and
Youth choirs are taking a
summer
vacation.
Normally there will be an
organist, but there may be
Masses when no organist
will be available. Please SING loudly and clearly to praise
the Lord, whether with an organist or “a capella”. If you
really can’t sing, please take up the hymnbook and read the
words, to join that way in this sung prayer.
RCIA
Our Parish picnic will be held on SUNDAY, August
30th at NOON, after the 11a.m. Mass. Plan to attend.
As usual, the cost of each food item or soda pop will be
$1. We barbecue the food there for the sake of having a
PICNIC together. We will NOT serve anyone food items
to take home until after all the people present have been
served. (about 1:30?).
THANK YOU!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a
wonderful process for someone who has begun to feel God
calling them to investigate our Catholic Faith more fully.
After the time of learning and reflection before God, and it
“feels right” to them, they will be baptized and enter into
being a “full-fledged” Catholic. Starts mid-September. Call
Fr. Ted by mid to end of August at latest.

NOT CONFIRMED? If you are an older teenager or an adult, and
missed the sacrament of Confirmation, speak with Fr. Ted
as well. We can make arrangements.
World Youth Day Lottery. Squares
can be purchased for $5 each. The
$100 prize will be rewarded after
the entire board of 50 squares is
sold. Proceeds for the next month goes to cover the cost of
the World Youth Day experience and the SteubenvilleToronto Experience for our parishioners.
One year from now the World Youth Day participants will
be heading towards Poland. We appreciate the financial
contributions you have made toward the trip through
various fundraising initiatives. As a part of our
preparations, we also will be partaking in Spiritual
Preparations. One of the prayer initiatives is L4. The project
is concerned with the sick. In this way, we wish to follow
the example set by John Paul II: before difficult
pilgrimages, demanding tasks, or simply, great work, he
asked the sick to pray for him. We want to prepare for
World Youth Day in a similar way. World Youth Day is
not only a difficult organisational undertaking, but it is also
a very significant event in people’s lives, for their faith, and
therefore it requires spiritual support from all members of
the Catholic Church. Taking into consideration the motto
of the World Youth Day in Kraków, “Blessed are the
merciful”, we wish to preach mercy together, through our
words and actions. If you would like your name to be
included in the Prayer Book for the Sick that will be
presented to Pope Francis during World Youth Day, please
fill out the form in the bulletin insert this weekend. More
copies are in the Narthex and the Parish Website, if you
would like to pass this prayer opportunity to your family
and friends. You can send the prayer request to the Poland
Organizers yourself, or submit them to the “Prayer Box” in
the Narthex and the World Youth Day Team will mail all
prayer requests together.
The World Youth Day and Toronto participants want your
empties! You can drop off you empty liquor and beer
containers and we will return them for you. All proceeds
will go towards the pilgrimages. You can also take back the
empties yourself and donate your refund to us (put in the
collection labelled “World Youth Day”). This collection
finished Labour Day week-end.

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in your Home
Our Legion of Mary would love to
do the enthronement in your home. It
is a short ceremony of prayer,
committing yourself and your family
to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It takes
10-15 minutes and we give you a
beautiful picture of the Sacred Heart,
and the benefits will be plentiful. If
you would like us to come to your
home, put your name and phone
number and address in an envelope addressed to the Legion
of Mary. You can put the envelope into the collection on
Sunday or bring it to the parish office. Someone from the
Legion of Mary will contact you and set up a time to visit
your home. No refreshments required, and no fee accepted.

Social Media for Parishes ??????
Do you blog, tweet, post, pin or like? Or do you have ideas
of how to reach out to others through social media and the
internet? This summer Rachel is working here at the parish
for her Masters program. Her question focuses on how
parishes can use 21st century communication and
technology to evangelize and connect with members of
their community. If you have background in the field of
communication or have an opinion about social media and
the Church, please speak to Rachel 289-439-4497 or
blessedsacramentyouth@hotmail.com. All comments will
aid in her research.

There are more churches in Las Vegas than casinos. During
Sunday services at the offertory, some worshippers
contribute casino chips as opposed to cash.
Some are sharing their winnings - some are hoping to win.
Since they get chips from so many different casinos, and
they are worth money, the Catholic churches are required
to send all the chips into the diocese for sorting. Once sorted
into the respective casino chips, one junior priest takes the
chips and makes the rounds to the casinos turning chips into
cash. And he, of course, is known as The Chip Monk.
