Graded Work: Your grades are composed of Chapter Tests and a Lab Grade. The Lab
Grade will count as a test grade. Each of the above mentioned grades will collectively
make up 75% of the course grade. A departmental final examination will make up the
remaining 25% of the final grade average. The student is responsible for the information
discussed in the class, regardless of how thoroughly it is covered in class. Retain all
graded work in the event of a grade dispute. No calculators are to be used on any graded
work or the final exam.
Lab: Lab is an extension of class. This is your opportunity to obtain additional help and
practice by using MyMathLab. You are required to devote a minimum of sixteen hours
to MyMathLab. Your lab grade (a maximum score of 100) will be calculated at a rate of
6.25 points for each hour that you log on to MyMathLab.

Student Responsibilities: 1) The student is required to get the student access kit for their
MyMathLab course. 2) The student is required to log in and register in their instructor’s
class in MyMathLab during the first week of class. 3) The student will spend one hour
per week in the computer lab on campus or one hour per week on their own computer
working on homework, study plan, chapter exercises, chapter test, etc., as assigned by the
instructor. 4) The student is required to spend sixteen hours working in MyMathLab for
the semester.
(The instructor will be in Katy Campus Room 150, on M-W from 5:00-5:30 to assist with
your MyMathLab requirement.)
Extra Credit: (optional)
Using MyMathLab, under “Do Homework”, you will receive five points per chapter for
doing a minimum of 25 problems correctly. You choose the problems that you wish to
work. Print your proof of results and turn this in on the due date (or before) shown on the
calendar. Extra credit is given for chapters: 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Make-up Policy:
There are no make-up Chapter Tests given. A grade of zero will be given for a missed
Chapter Test. If you miss a Chapter Test and feel that your absence was the result of an
extreme circumstance, you must contact the instructor before the next class to discuss the
circumstance. If your absence was warranted, through the instructor’s opinion, your Final
Exam Score will be used for the missed test. Missing a second or any other Chapter Test
will result in a grade of zero, with no chance of appeal. The lowest Chapter Test score will
be dropped for those students who have three or fewer combined absences or tardies. In
the event that the Final Exam is missed, you must notify me that same day in order to have
a chance to make up the Final Exam, which would be the next morning, at the latest. If you
know in advance that you will miss a class, inform the instructor beforehand to discuss the
material that you will miss. An arrangement may be made to take an early exam.
