Monday
Materials: videos associated with our Literature book.
Objective: I will be able to be introduced to the skill of making predictions and plot.
WARMUP:STAAR Inferencing Question #31 &51
Assignment: Watch the “get connected” :51 sec video. Respond to the journal prompt
at the end orally with group then each group shares one person’s response. Watch
“background” :36 sec video about mongooses and cobras.
Go over Reading Skill slide-Predictions-make some about the story
Go over Literary Analysis slide-Plot.
Read aloud “The Three little pigs story-wolf version”
Create a plot diagram of this story in a group.
Homework: Finish plot diagram if group did not finish.
Tuesday
Materials: Literature book. pgs. 228-245
Objective: I will be able to make inferences and draw conclusion about the structure
and elements of fiction and provide evidence from the text to support my understanding.
WARMUP:STAAR Inferencing Question #27 & 23
Assignment: Listen to the story of “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” as it is read aloud. Follow along
and be prepared to answer oral questions at any given time during the story.
Homework: Review and think about what was read during class. The girls that will
be gone Wednesday need to finish the story individually. Test on Friday over
story.
Wednesday
Materials: Literature book. pgs. 228-245
Objective: I will be able to make inferences and draw conclusion about the structure

Assignment: Assignment: Continue to listen to the story of “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” as it is
read aloud. Follow along and be prepared to answer oral questions at any given time
during the story.
Homework: Review and think about what was read during class today and
yesterday. Test on Friday over story.
Thursday
Materials: Grammar practice page and literature book pgs. 228-245
Objective: I will identify verbs as action or linking.
WARMUP:STAAR Inferencing Question #2 & 52
Assignment: Watch the “grammar Tutorial” online in the after we read section. It covers
verbs-action and linking. Work with partners to complete grammar practice sheet.
Review “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” if time allows.
Homework: Complete Grammar practice sheet and review “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”.
Friday
Materials: literature book pgs. 228-245 and test
Objective: I will assess my knowledge of “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”.
WARMUP:STAAR Inferencing Question #4 &3
Assignment: Take an open book test over “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi”. If you don’t finish in class,
come to stretch or make a plan with Mrs. Norris to finish after school, or Monday during
stretch.

Objective: I will be able to identify an independent clause and a subordinate clause.
Assignment: Watch/interact Sentence PowerPoint slides 4-6 while discussing
independent and subordinate clauses. Go over the instructions for grammar workbook
pages 109-113. On 109-112, complete all questions. On pg. 113, pick any 5.
Homework: Complete pages 109-113. Due Tuesday. Grammar Test on Friday.

Materials: GWB pgs. 129-131
Objective: I will be able to identify a simple sentence and a compound sentence.
Assignment: Grade GWB pgs. 109-113. Watch/interact Sentence PowerPoint slides 79 while discussing simple and compound sentences. Go over the instructions for
grammar workbook pages 129-131. On 129, odd #s. On 130, #1-5 then pick any 5 from
16-15. On 131, all 15.
Homework: Keep pgs. 109-113 somewhere safe to use on test on Friday.
Complete pages 129-131. Due Wednesday. Grammar Test on Friday.

Objective: I will be able to identify a compound sentence and a compound-complex
sentence.

on Friday.

Materials: GWB pgs. 109-113, 129-131, 132-135, grammar test
Objective: I will be assess my knowledge about independent and subordinate clauses,
simple, compound and compound-complex sentences and subject-verb agreement.
Assignment: Review rules from throughout the week. Get out pgs. 109-113, 129-131,
132-135, to use/help with rules on the test.
Complete GWB pgs. half of 122,half of 124, 136-137,160 as a test grade. There will be
a total of 70 Questions.
