Words on the Vine- Weekly Challenge HW
You may choose to do any of the following Vocabulary assignments during the week.
You have the choice but you need to complete 20 points worth of work.
1. Words on the Vine worksheet- Complete one page of the Words on the Vine
worksheet. You may also choose to complete both pages for double the points. 5 or 10
points
2. Root Word Brainstorm- Think of at least 10 new words that have the same
Greek/Latin root word of the week. Write these words in a list and underline the root
word. 5 points
6. Vocabulary Conversation – Talk to an adult using each vocabulary word in your
conversation. (Write words down in a list and have parent sign) 10 points
8. Illustrations - Illustrate and label each of your vocabulary words. 10 points
9. Parts of Speech –Classify the vocabulary words according to part of speech. 10
points
10. Flashcards- Make a set of flashcards with the word on one side and the definition
on the other. Use these to study your vocabulary words! 10 points
11. Sentences – use each vocabulary word in a sentence. (You may only use one word
in a sentence.)

12. Newspaper Story– Cut out a picture from a newspaper or a magazine and use the
vocabulary words to write a story about the picture. 15 points
13. Paragraph- Write a paragraph using each of your vocabulary words. Be sure to
underline them and use them in the correct context please. 15 points
14. Poem – use at least five vocabulary words in your own poem. 15 points
15. Definitions – write the definition of each vocabulary word. 15 points
16. Synonyms (same)/Antonyms (opposite) - Write a synonym AND antonym for
each spelling word.

***All assignments must be turned in together. As a heading for each assignment,
please write the title (ex: Vocabulary Conversation), correct number (ex:6), and point
value (ex: 10 pts.) Please staple together all of your assignments. You may use the
front and back of your notebook paper.
