Provision and
Protection-Part 4”
“Unity in Revival—
The Symphony and It’s
Blessed Results”
Matthew 18:19
(Amplified Version)
• “Again I tell you, if two of you
AGREE (harmonize together—to
make a symphony) about
everything and anything—
whatever they shall ask, it will
come to pass and be done for
them by My Father in Heaven.”
Definition of Symphony
• Dictionary meaning—”a harmony
of sounds.”
• We derive our word “symphony”
from the Greed word translated

Version.

•The Spirit of God
loves harmony,
unity and love
between the disciples
of Jesus. In this
atmosphere, only,
does He work!
•But if disharmony,
whispering and
backbiting come in,
the Holy Spirit
leaves. He will not
work in an
atmosphere of
Discord!
The Creator of Harmony
• Harmony is a gift, a gracious work of the
Holy Spirit, as seen in Ephesians 4:3:
• “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the
Spirit in the bond of peace.”
• “Be eager and strive earnestly to guard
and keep the harmony and oneness of
(produced by) the Spirit in the binding
power of peace.” (Amplified N.T.)
What is Our Role in
Keeping the Harmony?
• ENDEAVORING to KEEP the unity
given by the Spirit (Weymouth
translation)
• BE EAGER and STRIVE
EARNESTLY to GUARD and KEEP
the oneness..” (Amplified N.T.)
Harmony is
not worked up
from beneath,
it comes down
from above!
Let’s Look at the Enemies
of the Symphony
(Harmony)
• Scandal—Malicious gossip
• Backbiting—to slander an absent person.
• Slander—A false or malicious statement
about a person.
• Character Assassination— Whispering,
gossip, discord, tale bearing.
•One thing is
common to all
of these, that is
to discuss
another’s faults
when he or she
is absent!

some wrong: the man who gossips
about it divides friend from friend.”

things…” Romans 1:30

up heavily.” Ps. 41:6,7,9 (Moffat)
What Does the Bible Say

The Weapons of the Believer in
Keeping the Symphony
(Harmony)
• Keep a still tongue.
• “If any man among you seem to be
religious and bridles not his tongue,
but deceives his own heart, this
man’s religion is vain.” James 1:26
• “..spake evil of no man.” Titus 3:2
The Weapons of the Believer in
Keeping the Symphony
(Harmony)
• “Therefore, if you bring thy gift to the
altar and there remember that your
brother has something against you,
leave your gift there before the altar
and go your way. First be reconciled
to your brother, and then come and
offer your gift.” Matt. 5:23-24
The Weapons of the Believer in
Keeping the Symphony
• “Moreover, if your brother sins against you,
go and tell him his fault between you and
him alone. If he hears you, you have
gained a brother. But it he will not hear,
take with you one or two more…And if he
refuses to hear them, tell it to the church.
But if he refuses to hear the church, let
him be to you as a heathen and a tax
collector.” Matt 18:15-17
Six Points of Methodism
1. That we should not listen, or willingly
inquire after any ill concerning each
other.
2. That if we do hear any ill of each other,
we will not be forward to believe it.
3. That as soon as possible we will
communicate what we hear, by speaking
or writing to the person concerned.
Six Points of Methodism
4. That until we have done this, we will
not speak or write a syllable of it to any
person whatever.
5. That neither will be mention it, after we
have done this, to any other person
whatever.
6. That we will not make any exception to
these rules, unless we feel absolutely
obliged in conscience to do so.
Let’s maintain
the unity of
the Spirit and
the Bond of
Peace!
By doing so we
will receive
God’s Provision
and
Protection!
