To survive, a business needs to keep up with the
competition or operate with an advantage.
Recently, many of the competitive advantages developed
by successful businesses have involved information
systems (IS) and information technology (IT).
For example:
Let’s go back to Apple in 2003
How would you respond to the following statements:
1.The iTunes Music Store is a classic example of an IT-driven
competitive advantage.
2.The iTunes Music Store is a Management Information System.

1. Theory
1 x Lecture – Monday 9am
1 x Tutorial – Thursday
2. Practical
1 x Lecture – Thursday 1pm
1 x Tutorial – next Tuesday or Wednesday
The parts are related in that the practical material is
used to illustrate the theory.
