Analysis
You are required to include a section in your final paper that interprets your projects status regarding
cost and schedule.
To complete the analysis you need to do the following:
MS Project Paper
1.
2.
3.
4.
Start with a baselined project file.
Insert three columns: Actual Duration, Remaining duration and % complete.
Set the Task Type (found in Task – Information-Advanced) to Fixed Work.
Apply actual duration values for at least 30 % of the activities in your MS project file.
So if you have 150 activities (not counting the headers) then you will need to apply
durations for 45 activities.
5. Of the 30%, have 10% completed early, 10% completed late and 10% still in work.
6. Set your status date to the day after the last start or completion time of the activities that you
set actual durations.
Reports
1. Identify the values your project has for analysis for cost and schedule.
a. This will require you review reports under Cost – EV
b. Remember there are several variations for the EV costs (use edit to change)
2. Your analysis will need to cover the EV, PV, AC, CV, SV, CPI, SPI, PCIB, PCIC, TCPI.
3. Your analysis should cover totals of each metric which gives status for the whole project
4. Your analysis should cover the high and low costs for resources and activities
5. Your analysis should be not only the values given in the report but what are their meanings.
6. You should also include reports in your paper, make sure that you reference the data correctly
7. The analysis section should be written exactly like you would if this report was to be given to the
Vice President that controls your next pay raise and promotion.
