Qualifications
Duties
Eligibility Criteria
PhD or equivalent, with
major field in the
relevant topic area
required. Teaching
experience at the
University level
required, demonstrated
evidence of excellence
in teaching preferred.
Previous experience
teaching a similar course
is highly desirable.
Preparation and delivery of
course content;
development,
administration and marking
of assignments, tests and
exams; calculation and
submission of grades;
holding regular office
hours; supervising TAs (if
any) assigned to the course.
Applicants are required to submit a current CV and
draft syllabus as part of the application process.
These will be used to help determine an applicant’s
mastery in the subject matter.

Dates of Appointments are:
Y= full course (September 1, 2014- April 30, 2015)
F= half course (September 1, 2014-December 31, 2014)
S= half course (January 1, 2015-April 30, 2015)
Salary:
Sessional Lecture I (SLI) - $14,250, Sessional Lecture I Long Term (SLI LT)- $14,520, Sessional Lecturer II (SLII)- $15,150, Sessional Lecturer III (SLIII)- $15,850
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Notes:
1) The position posted is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments
2) TA support is approximate, and is conditional upon enrolment
3) Preference in hiring will be given to qualified individuals advanced to the ranks of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer II by the Department of Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations.
4) Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellow of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and
should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
This position is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, and is subject to budgetary approval.
