DAR Good Citizens Scholarship Contest
This scholarship is for 12th Grade students. The scholarship contest consists of two parts: Part I
(Personal) consists of the student describing how he/she has tried to manifest the qualities of a good
citizen. This part may be completed at home and is to be submitted together with a copy of an official
transcript and two letters of recommendation. Part II (Essay) is to be administer under the supervision of
a faculty or DAR member.
Materials must be submitted by November 15th, 2013
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation’s Student Leaders Program
This program is for 11th and 12th Grade students. The program helps students gain a greater
understanding of how nonprofits create impact in the community and helps develop them as the next
generation leaders through two components:
A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization; and
A week long, all-expense paid Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.

“Make The U” (Haz La U) Scholarship Program
Students will need to log on to: www.colgate.com/HazLaU and follow the application process to submit
3 short essays of 500 words or less on a selection of topics
Applications are being accepted from September 1st, 2013 through January 20th, 2014

The 2014 Presidential Spirit of Community Award
Students in grades 5-12 who have taken part in community service activities over the past year can fill
out an application form at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit. Once the form has been
completed, it must be submitted to the school principal.

Twelfth Annual National CO-OP Scholarship Application 2013-14
To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0
scale, and apply and be accepted for the 2014-15 academic year at one of the WACE Partner
Institutions. Early applications are highly encouraged. For a scholarship application or to complete your

Lawrence Technological University’s Scholarship Competition for Out-of-State Students
Apply to LTU at www.ltu.edu/apply. After you apply, write a 500-word response on the following topic
and email the essay to outofstate@ttu.edu
Choose a person whose innovations have inspired you. Explain why that person was successful and how
his or her innovation is helpful to society. What characteristics of the innovator would you like to
incorporate into your own life?
Deadline to submit essay: February 28, 2014
The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts)
Program for students who are actors, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, singers, visual
artists, and writers. Students ages must be between 15-18 or Grades 10-12.

The 2014 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program
Eligible participants should be American Citizens. Students must be enrolled in high school during the
time of participation at any level of the contest (9th -12th Grade). The prepared oration must be on some
aspect of the Constitution of the United States with emphasis on the duties and obligations of a citizen
to our government. Local contests for each local American Legion Post must begin after November 2 nd,
2013, and must be completed by December 20, 2013. Contact your local American Legion Post in the
phone book or at www.legion.org/posts for more details.
