Seoul, Korea Christian Artist exhibition, Chonsin Univ. Korea Suwon Corrections Preview, Suwon, Korea Photo Artist Yong Woon Hwang One day Mr. Hwang bought a pair of glasses, but he soon had a problem: he couldn’t see through the left side of them. He went to a glass shop and was told the glass had too many scratches, which was why they produced a foggy effect. This was the effect of placing his camera’s viewfinder onto his glasses too many times. But this isn’t the only problem he has faced; he has also received physical therapy many times for his arms and fingers he works so hard. Mr. Hwang is well known in the region where he lives because of the shoes he wears. He wears rubber sandals all year, even in winter, because they makeit easier for him to get into water or anywhere else he wants to go. Through Mr. Hwang’s work he wishes to understand how to recover humanity and nature with the right mixture of the each. Because Hanji dulls sharp lines and bright colors, he figured photographs on Hanji would appear softer and warmer. Choosing the right type of Hanji for a given photograph gives extra pleasure. The material offers a warm radiance different from ordinary printing paper, which has a cold, shiny radiance. Furthermore, Hanji has diverse patterns unique to each sheet of paper because they are all handmade. Mr. Hwang would like to share these comforting feelings with you. Be happy with this moment. Thank you. Seongjin An Photographic Medium Artist An's installation at Art-Athina 2015 comprises photographs of Sakura or Cherry Blossoms. He depicts them in the dusk or moonlight giving them a meditative aura that envelopes visitors in its embrace. The lightness of the cloud-like Sakura are juxtapose against a dark background. This type of night photography requires high technical skill and is able to create mood depending on the shutter speed, aperture setting, and light sensitivity and requires very long exposures for depth of field quality. An's Sakura blossoms are in moonlight the whole installation creates a mood of melancholy, like a statement about the passing of propitious times. Seongjin An was born in Hyogo, Japan. After graduating from Kwansei Gakuin Junior High School, An lived in Korea. After studying Business Management at Seoul University, he studied photography in the correspondence course of Kyoto University of Art and Design and the photographic expression course of Takarazuka Media Library. While running his father’s business and managing a fruit and vegetable market, he makes photographic art works. In my work, natural and animal motifs intertwine to display such conflicts come from the fundamental instincts for virtue and vice that reside inside of us. I find the critical edge through representations of power against backgrounds of peace and beauty. I intend, finally, to provide a space for the dignity of mankind. My works are metaphors for the rhythms and dualities that underlie existence. I’m presenting nature’s realities in compositions of such seduction that the power is formalized and mitigated. Every day I see, hear, feel and think about the world through magazines which people glance through & then throw away. For me, I have found importance & value in these materials as in many ways they are mirror the world around us. Tang Wei Hsu http://www.hsu-tangwei.com Tang-Wei Hsu (1980 born in Taiwan) currently lives and works in New York. He obtained a BA in Architecture at the Shih Chien University and finished an MFA in Visual Arts at the Tainan National University of the Arts. His paintings begin from an imagined fantasy space extending into installation, sculpture and public art. Tang-Wei creates complex drawings as well as mixed media installations composed of his drawings, paintings, and architectural features. He often alludes to nature in his work and interprets physical features of our universe like the stars and astronomy, either at close range or at a distance. By combining his fanciful worlds with practical architectural features he asks us to suspend our disbelief and to embrace his fantasy terrains and enjoy them as part of our everyday surroundings. Those works hope to produce the relationship between the miniature and enormous scale in his paintings. Different layers from the painting produce many relationships, in order to make this imaginary space or scene are fantastic as outer space, every statuses of every distance are compressed into the flat paintings. Also extends the new imagine and fantasy from this space, by creating some clustered symbols in an artificial way, to make it feels like some unknown biology, biological unit, and various imagination of scenes. He was born in Taiwan, studied in Japan, and completed graduate school at New York University. Lin’s work always reflects the most profound concepts of Asian philosophy, namely a deep sympathy for human beings and an appreciation of the value of the union of humans and nature. His installations are urgently concerned with communication, and gather thousands of participants to form a huge conceptual sculpture. Therefore, the participants lend a democratic character to his work. He is widely known as the "Penny Artist" after his Penny for Peace(1997) project, in which he collected one million pennies to form a gigantic, three-ton sculpture, which is now permanently displayed at Hiroshima University. He has participated in group exhibitions at the 2005 Expo in Japan as well as the Museum of Modern Art in Saitama, Japan. His most recent solo show was held at the Fukuoka City Art Museum. In 2006, he collected one hundred thousand pacifiers to form a Christmas tree piece. In 2005, he was invited to make a piece called "Gate of Peace" for the world's fair in Tokyo, for which he collected one million pens. Lin’s work has been collected by many museums, corporations, and exhibited in many international museums. Lin’s paintings often juxtapose traditional Asian brush ink landscapes with contemporary mixed media constructions, resulting in "post-surreal" landscapes. Education 1996 MFA.
