Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program
Support Services Cooperative
2015-2016
The Career and Technical Education Support Services Cooperative at Region 5 ESC provides technical assistance
to districts in the implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for CTE as well as
integration of S.T.A.A.R. objectives in the CTE curriculum to increase student achievement. Additionally, the
cooperative provides technical assistance with monitoring and intervention activities as part of the PerformanceBased Monitoring Analysis System.
PRODUCTS/SERVICES:
 Regularly scheduled CTE Directors meetings (4 on-site at Region 5 ESC, 4 web-based communication)
 Maintain online Reference Manual and Resource Directory for CTE Administrators
 Staff development – 1 day per semester. For staff development in addition to the one day provided by this
contract, see below for pricing*.
o Staff development to address specific areas of concern from the following areas:
 Integrate academics with CTE programs using a coherent sequence of courses.
 Link CTE at the secondary and postsecondary levels.
 Provide students with strong experience in and understanding of all aspects of an
industry.
 Develop, improve, or expand the use of technology in CTE programs.
 Provide professional development programs to teachers, faculty, administrators, and
career guidance and academic counselors who are involved in integrating CTE programs.
 Develop and implement evaluations of the CTE programs carried out with funds,
including an assessment of how the needs of special populations are being met.
 Initiate, improve, expand, and modernize quality CTE programs, including relevant
technology.
 Provide services and activities that are of sufficient size, scope, and quality to be
effective.
 Provide activities to prepare special populations for high-skill, high-wage, or highdemand occupations that will lead to self-sufficiency.
 enhancing parental and community involvement with local CTE programs
 Technical assistance at district location– 1 day per semester (For additional days, see pricing below*)
o Performance Based Monitoring issues (PAR, DVV, DVM)
o CTE Program Management (Funding, TEKS, PEIMS, Nontraditional, Teacher Certification, etc.)
o Perkins annual application or funds
o Other topics available with prior agreement of district and program coordinator.
 Reduced fee for professional development per CTE person at Region 5 ESC.

*$500 per whole day, $250 per half-day for additional on-site assistance or training

It is understood that the fiscal agent is responsible for the refund for any exception received as a result of monitoring
or audit. Monies refunded shall be provided by the entity responsible for the discrepancy. All documentation for
direct-services is the responsibility of each LEA.

1A- $2000 per district
2A - $2200 per district
3A - $2400 per district
4A - $2600 per district
5A - $2800 per district
6A - $3000 per district
