Step 1 - Over-view of 20’s
To get started, let's get a quick introduction to the 1920s at Learner.org by viewing the six web pages

Step 2 - Lawless Decade
View the timeline, click on a year, and choose an issue to discuss. Write a summary of the issue and its
significance to the 1920’s

Step 3 - 1920’s Fashion
Check out some authentic 1920s fads. Spend some time surfing this site to get acquainted to the real
1920s. When you're finished surfing, find a fashion or fad to sketch that represents the 1920s. Use a
separate paper to choose a fashion or fad and write a brief description to explain it. Go to the site at

Learn how installment plans increased consumption and led to the growth of consumer debt. Explain
how installment buying changed the way Americans lived.

Step 5 – Magazine Cover
Explore at least one aspect of culture from the 1920s. Create a magazine cover that focuses on the area
you learned about and is representative of the times
- choose one the following aspects of culture to explore: cars, sports, entertainment, women, or
Crime.
- read about your topic using the links below. Become as informed as possible about that
particular segment of culture. Very Important: Sites have both pictures and text. It is
IMPORTANT that you look at the pretty pictures AND READ!
- consider the themes, achievements, & important people that shape your topic
- create a cover that might have appeared on a magazine like “Life”, “People” or “TIME”. Covers
should have a combination of pictures & headlines that highlight the major trends of the day.
