Spanish I: Alger B. Wilkins High School and Performance Learning Center R. Heyward Course Description: This course is an introduction to the study of the target language and its culture. Students perform the most basic functions of the language and become familiar with some elements of its culture. The emphasis is placed on the development of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing within a given context extending outside of the classroom setting when possible. The context focuses on the students’ lives and experiences and includes an exposure to everyday customs and lifestyles. Resources: Gradpoint, EDMODO, Internet, Elinguofolio, Rosetta Stone Materials needed: Notebook paper, pencils, notebook, dividers, USB drive, spiral index cards Course length:This course runs a maximum of one semester. Students will have to upload electronic projects to Elinguofolio in order to complete requirements for the course. Otherwise the course lasts one full semester. Tutoring Time: afterschool (4:00-4:45) Tuesday-Thursday Class Expectations: 1. Sleeping or laying your head on the desk is not tolerated. 2. No cell phones, iPods, headphones or any personal electronic devices are allowed to be used during class. 3. When you enter the classroom it is time to work. Log in when you arrive to class. 4. Class is over when the bell rings, not prior to it. I will dismiss you, not the bell. 5. Come to class on time. Tardiness will result in a phone call home. Excessive tardiness will lead to an office referral. 6. You are expected to abide by all rules and guidelines as described in the 7. You must have permission and a pass to leave the classroom. 8. Unauthorized use of the computer will not be permitted.
