VOCAB ASSIGNMENT
Chapter 1.

Ill omend is a sign of bad thing or events that will occur. Something that would indicate that would
be when jack decides that his men will be hunters.

I would say an example of a strident sound would be when Ralph blows the conch because it has a
very harsh sound.

When I have a break or a hiatus from school I like to relax with a nice book or play on my computer

One specious explanation that I gave was that I thought it was an B day when it was an A day

An example of enmity would be how hostile or vulnerable Piggy feels to Jack.

they denied it. This is an example of recrimination

One instance of a tumultuous situation would be if all of us spoke out loud without raising our
hands in Ms.Pantuso’s 8th period class.

When I got yelled at by a friend who wasn’t happy would be an example of tirade

Jack Merridew would be an errant child, instead of keeping the fire going he goes and hunts.

I would be in the middle of nowhere, a huge chasm, an immesurable part of space and time- an
abyss

I have not secretly or tacitly approved of someones misbehavior, due to the sole reason that
since it is misbehavior, it would be wrong.

I would save Ralph’s decisions might be oppressive or harsh because he would do anything to
keep the fire going

The beast is inscrutable because it is new and is not observed properly

One could festoon a place when building a hammock because he is connecting two points or
stringing the trees up.

A malevolent action is an action that is malicious to other people

An example of a situation of detritus would be if I dropped a vase or when Ralph’s plane crashed

If I copy off of someone, or if I yell at a staff member.

An example of belligerence would be when the conch broke and piggy went crashing to the
rocks and died

Ms. Pantuso would be in a good mood, thus less homework

When Simon died everybody was in a state of grief or lamentation

The decorum would be: every table has a fork and a knife and a spoon, each seat has also
napkins etc…

The last time I was in a perilous situation was when I did not do my homework

Ralph could be an effigy because he is later disliked by his men

One who might have chanted an incantation could be Harry Potter because the spell or phrases
he says have power to them.

The last time I behaved diffidently was when I presented my French project

An example of a bastion I have seen is Cardiff Castle

An animal that could be described as a leviathan could be a whale

When Jack and Ralph started fighting over the power, a huge chasm formed separating them,
making them enemies.

Anything that has to hold wait must be taut

1. Describe a place that is, metaphorically speaking a covert for you. Explain
To me home is a covert because I am safe and sheltered there

sure to tell why the person or creature is being furtive
The small fish is furtively moving through the water, making sure it isn’t seeing by the huge
shark with great big teeth. It is trying to back home.
3. Classify Obtuseness as positive or a negative word explain.
After looking at the definition I would classify obtuse as a negative word because it can mean
someone lacking intellect etc..
4. What is an object that might be brandished and who would likely brandish it?
A weapon might be brandished, and a soldier running into battle might brandish it.
5. Give an example of a situation in which a person’s bravado would come in handy.
When someone tries to hurt another, the person’s bravado would come in handy.
Chapter 8
1. Which character in the novel took his role as prefect very seriously? How is this revealed in the
novel
Jack used to take his position as prefect very seriously and it is shown, when, Jack gives them an
order it is followed, everyone obeys out of fear.
2. For what have you been rebuked in the past month? Who rebuked you?
I have been rebuked of cheating on test, and the teachers rebuke our class almost every day.
3. Describe a place that has sanctity for you in particular. Explain.
The gods room where my family and I pray every day has a lot of sanctity as we are praying.

A Sodden person could mean ‘drunk with power’ or even a person soaked with a liquid. A
sodden object could refer to alcoholic drinks

The last time I was vexed was when I was running my 7th lap around the track

Piggy’s corpulence causes him to be most fun of, this is not fair, one should not be judged by
their size or physical appearance

A bright sweet juicy mango could be succulent.

I think bullying is very abominable because it hurts the person being bullied

When I work I find my self assimilating as I use different techniques to do the same task given to
me.

I would find Simons hide out now befouled as the sow was massacred there

I would say French 3 projects require you to work at such a feverish pace because we have so
much to do in one six weeks.

A creature that would burrow itself would be a mole, by digging

Torrid would be desert like, very hot.

I would consider my library card my talisman because it lets me escape into the world of books!!

We would find multitudinous high school students at bowie high school, we have so many
students, we are multitudinous.

Making it up: yes, my friends called me names and ridiculed me- derisive taunts

Bieng in Ms. Pantuso’s English class has been really fun and exciting, it has been the pinnacle of
my high school life.

One instance when I writhed was when I didn’t do my homework for geometry

An appropriate ululated response would be if one was trying to scare you

One instance when I had to be goaded to do something would be my assignments.

The last time I gibbered was when I was telling a joke from a show.

man.
