Welcome to the 2013 Greatest American Championship Tournament. This review activity is designed to
prepare you for the US History and Government Regents Exam by persuading your fellow classmates
that you have the answer to which Americans have had the most profound impact on the United States
in regards to its ultimate goal of creating a “more perfect union.” Rankings of the individual candidates
are based on 2012 results. For example, FDR, Eleanor Roosevelt, Henry Ford and Walt Disney won their
respective brackets last year, therefore, they earned the #1 seed for this year’s tournament.
You will need to complete the following steps.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Research, persuade and vote as to which Americans should get the 15 and 16 seeds. (“Bubble”
nominees are on the following page.)
Create a biography on one of the Americans in the tournament that discusses their
contributions towards helping America reach the goals as stated in the Preamble of the “US
Constitution”
Create a persuasive visual presentation with no more than 20 words (The name of the candidate
counts in those 20 words)
Using the Secret ballot vote in each round of the tournament. (The official tournament board is
