Travel Brochure: 20 points
Your task: Choose a city that we have talked about this year. You will make a travel brochure about
that city (ex. Boston, New York City, Jamestown, Philadelphia, New Orleans, San
Francisco/Sacramento, Gettysburg)
Things to include:
 History of the city (and major historical events of the city – example. Boston: Boston
Massacre and Boston Tea Party) – 5 points
 Write present day attractions and facts about the city – 5 points
 Write a paragraph that persuade tourists to take a vacation to your city – 5 points
 Illustration/Colorful/Neat/Spelling – 5 Points
You will fold one piece of paper to make a brochure.
Twitter for a Historical Figure – 20 points
You will create a fake Twitter for a historical figure we have learned about in class this year. You
will need to include the following:
 Picture of the person – 2 points
 At least 3 followers (this needs to be accurate: for example if you chose Benjamin Franklin
some of his followers could have been George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas
Jefferson. Think about who they would know during that time period). – 3 points
 Short About Me section with their most important accomplishments – 5 points
 At least 4 Tweets that relate with their accomplishments or important events during their life
(include hashtags) – 8 points
 Creativity/neatness – 2 points
Invention Advertisement – 20 points
Create an advertisement for an invention from the Industrial Revolution. You can make an
advertisement on a piece of paper or you can use an iMovie template.

 How it will affect society – 5 points
 Why people should purchase it – 5 points
 Creativity – 2 points
Song Rewrite – 20 points
Take any song and rewrite the lyrics to include information about a historical event. You
must rewrite the entire song. Include the lyrics of the original song as well. The information
must be complete and accurate.
 Original lyrics and song title – 2 points
 Change every word of the song – 4 points
 Include multiple facts about the event – 7 points
 Include key people involved in the event – 7 points
Movie Trailer over an Era – 20 points
Using the movie trailer template on the iMovie app you will make a movie trailer for an era we have
discussed this year in class (Colonization, Revolution, Constitution, Early Republic, Jackson,
Westward Expansion, Reform, Civil War, and Reconstruction). Make sure it is informative and not
just pictures.
 Include 3 important people from your Era – 6 points
 Include 5 important events from your Era – 10 points
 Informative and accurate information – 4 points
Greatest Leader – 10 points
Complete a chart like the one below to compare two leaders from history. You will need to do
some outside research. Your leaders can be from different eras. For EACH leader complete the
following:

write at least four sentences describing the background & personal info of this leader. Explain each point clearly.
Training/Skills/Accomplishments: 2 points
write at least four sentences describing the training, skills, and accomplishments of this leader. Explain how this
would help the leader in his position.
Suggestions: You may want to organize the list in a t-chart to compare the two leaders.
(examples: Abraham Lincoln vs Jefferson Davis; Ulysses S. Grant vs Robert E. Lee; George
Washington vs Abraham Lincoln; Thomas Jefferson vs Alexander Hamilton)
On the back of your t-chart or on a separate paper stapled to your comparisons, write a minimum
of two good paragraphs describing who you think was the better leader in history and why. You
must defend your position using the information from your chart. This should be written in first
person as it is your personal opinion. (4 points)

Write a letter to a historical figure giving him/her advice on a historical situation. Example: Write a
letter to George Washington giving him advice about Valley Forge. Your letter should be at least 10
sentences, and it must include historically accurate information.
Comic Strip – 10 points
Create a comic strip of an event we have studied this year. Your comic strip must have a minimum
of 5 boxes.
1. Plan each of your panels carefully. Make sure you tell the whole story. – 2 points
2. Five panels and has at least one text bubble – 5 points
3. Neat, creative, factual (no stick people) – 3 points
Legal Brief – 10 points
As a defense lawyer your job is to prove your client is not guilty of crimes he/she is accused of.
Write a legal brief defending a particular person or group in history. You will create an opening
statement and describe what witnesses you would call and what you would ask them. Example:
Henry David Thoreau being arrested for refusing to pay a tax. A witness could be Ralph Waldo
Emerson (a fellow transcendentalist). Other examples: (Anne Hutchinson, Andrew Jackson, Aaron
Burr, John Brown, Harriet Tubman, John Wilkes Booth, Jefferson Davis, British Redcoats in the
Boston Massacre, etc.)
