INFORMATION.
As you are all aware by now, I am pregnant with my first baby. Please ensure you keep
sick children away from dance as advised with School as some illnesses are really
detrimental to unborn and newborn babies. As I’m around children daily I can’t prevent
these illnesses spreading but together we can manage it better. Just small things like
washing hands before class and watching out for signs of sick children. This would be
greatly appreciated. I’m looking forward to my little contribution to the dance school
whether it’s a boy or a girl .
Smaller Print is normal information from year to year. Bigger Print is the new stuff
to look at.
FEE AND CLASS INFORMATION
There is a $1 p/w fee structured into term fees. This fee will contribute to theatre hire costs for the annual
end of year concert. Hire fees are increased each year, as is common place practice in most businesses.
If your child has been in Grade 2 Ballet they will move up to Grade 3 etc. Jazz, Funk and Tap levels work
differently so please ask for my advice as to which class your child will move in to.
Performance Troupe students must do Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary. Funk or tap are a plus and will add to
their technique and ability.
JPT – x2 Ballet at their level + 1-2 at the level above, as well as Grade 6 doing Intermediate Foundation x2, x1
Jazz, x1 Funk, x1 Tap, x1 Contemporary, x1 JPT = 7-9 Classes (PT free and higher Ballet grades a free also.
30% overall discount = $750.00 for Grade 5 PT Package or $880.00 for Grade 6 Package (On average works
out to cost $7.50 or $9.75 per lesson)
Additional entry and costume charges will apply for PT students.
NEW TEACHER
This year we welcome a new dance teacher, Leah Loisel. Leah has a long
history with dance and a Mother and Grandmother that have been in the
dance industry for a lifetime. Leah will be joining us half way through
term 1 and will be taking over Saturdays to relieve me.

Eisteddfods/Competitions:
All Students engaging in the performance troupes must participate in two or more ballet classes per week as well as all other additional
genres to be eligible for performance opportunities. In the performance troupe classes, we will be working on dance routines of all styles
which will free up class time during the week for technique and furthering their repertoire of steps. The Performance Troupe Class will be
offered free to those students whom take part in classes of all styles for their age group. I.e. Ballet, Jazz, Funk, Tap and contemporary,
otherwise it will be charged out at $17.00 per class JPT and $19.00 per class SPT.
Please approach your teachers if your child is interested in doing a solo in the various eisteddfods throughout the year. Some practice can
be made in class time however Private lessons will be required closer to the events to ensure they know their dance. I will not approach
children or parents, so if nothing is mentioned it will be assumed that you are not interested in solo. Entries have to be in a term in advance
so please make sure you approach me early enough. I will take no responsibility for kids missing out.
Local Eisteddfods always run over Long weekends and School Holidays. Times and dates aren’t always confirmed until much closer to the
event. They will generally always be the first week of school holidays. So if you are a family that travels and cannot commit to this please do
not enrol your child.
RAD Ballet Exams:
We offer Graded Examinations for students from the age of seven years and Primary Examinations for students from the age of Six years.
Learning ballet requires patience and continual study over time. It is recommended that the commitment for students studying for a Graded
examination or Presentation class should be a minimum of one class a week with extra coaching in the period leading up to the examination,
particularly as the student progresses towards the higher levels. The Royal Academy of Dance stresses the importance of every student
having an achievable goal. This is measured either by an Examination or Presentation Class, which involves the study of either the Graded or
Vocational Graded Syllabus.
All students wishing to take part in a Ballet Exam has to commit to doing both Ballet classes of their grade as offered in the timetable and
are welcome to participate in the class grade above for FREE is they choose so.
For any Exam Candidates, Information is generally given verbally to both Students and Parents and assumed to be passed on. If there are any
concerns please contact Alison. The exam costs vary, once a child is entered and payed for by the school parents/guardians must take on the
responsibility and pay the school back even if they decide to pull out. All students are given Term 1 to decide if they wish to participate in a
Ballet Exam and then finalised at the start of term 2. Please take the initiative and look at the RAD website which is on the Dare to Dance
website Links page and to read this newsletter where all information is clearly stated.
As some of you will see there are 2 Primary Classes on a Saturday, Non Exam and Exam Classes. Please feel free to discuss this with us
further to finalise your Childs placement. If you do not wish for your child to participate in the exam process please let us know.

General Information:
Please send me your email address if you haven’t already as we would like to be able to start emailing correspondence to cut down on paper and
ink usage. It is each family’s responsibility to look at the website from time to time to see what’s going on in the world of Dare to Dance. Not
all information about what’s going on can be written in individual notes as I would spend all day everyday writing notes.
Also, if you have moved house or changed contact numbers please email us updates information. It is very important that I have the correct
information incase of an emergency.
Please ensure that your child has the correct uniform, particularly for the Funk and Jazz Classes. All students are to have Black Dance Pants
and either a Dare to Dance leotard or a Dare to Dance Singlet or T-shirt. For Jazz, the students are required to have their black lace up Jazz
shoes and for Funk they can either have Black dance sneakers or black lace up street shoes. They are not to have bare feet and they are not
to have slip ons. The tap uniform will be either their Jazz, Ballet or Funk uniform along with their Black Tap Shoes. Students under no
circumstances are to wear their normal street clothes in their dance classes. Tap shoes can be purchased from Taps or Bloch.
There are heaps of Second Hand dance wear items for sale at the studio. All priced under $20. Please get in quickly and see what’s available.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of the year 
