Intro to food and Nutrition beginner yeast product
Pizza Dough
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105-115*F)
1 tsp. sugar
1tsp salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 1.2 cups all purpose flour

















Pizza Toppings
1-8oz can of pizza sauce
6 oz of mozzarella cheese shredded
You may choose one of the following:
4 oz sausage, browned
3 oz pepperoni
4 oz hamburger, browned
You may choose two of the following:
1 medium onion
1/4 small green pepper
2 oz black olives
1 medium tomato
Check to make sure that there is an oven rack in the middle of the oven. Move if necessary.
Pre-heat to 425*F
Dissolve the dry yeast in the warm water. Set aside (you will notice the yeast smell)
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and blend well.
Add the oil to the activated yeast.
Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients using the well method.
When blended well, beat vigorously for 20 strokes (you should not see any dry ingredients not
blended in.
Let rest for 5 – 10 minutes (set timer on stove)
Knead on lightly floured counter to develop the gluten structure.
Lightly grease the pizza pan over the sink or counter area (never over the floor or the stove.)
Used lightly floured fingers; place dough onto pizza pan and roll out the dough to the shape of the
pan. (You may use your hands or a rolling pin or small rollers in your kitchen.
If the dough shrinks back as you try to shape it, let it rest for 3 minute and try again.
Bake crust for 5-6 minutes without toppings; remember to pick crust top to allow air the escape
Remove the crust from the oven.
Layer your topping on the dough, Remember, cheese burns at high temperature so you may want to
put the cheese below the sauce and the sprinkle a little on top.
Place pizza in the oven and bake 15-20 minutes. The thicker the crust the longer is needed to bake.
Remove from oven. Slice with pizza cutter and serve.
