3) How many anticipated attendees and from which sectors are they?
 More than 1000 invitations will be distributed to individuals from Government, private industry, think tanks, and the
press. We anticipate approximately 375 attendees with approximately 70% from Government, 20% from private
industry and 10% from the press.
4) What is the value of any refreshments?
 There is no fee to attend the event. The estimated value of meals, refreshments, or other items of value provided
to all attendees is $65.70. This includes continental breakfast, lunch and complementary promotional conference
materials (pens, notepads,etc.).
5) Is this event in the interest of the agency because it will further agency programs and operations?
 The objective of the Summit is to explore issues and solutions related to fielding Directed Energy (DE) and related
capabilities, e.g., railgun, to address emerging threats, and create new advantages for warfighters. The panels will
focus on maturing DE technologies, senior warfighter perspectives, and Congressional perspectives from the DE
Caucus. The afternoon panels address these issues at a classified level. We will close the Summit with an
integration panel where we have an open discussion on the key observations from the Summit and identify the
follow-on actions to expedite the fielding of DE capabilities.
6) Will individuals in attendance represent a range of persons interested in a given matter?
 The event is structured to reflect a broad cross-section of industry and Government perspectives on DE-related
topics, among both attendees and panel participants. Members of Congress and other key DoD stakeholders also
have committed to participate on the morning and afternoon panels sessions. We have invited key members of
the industrial base that are applying IR&D and focus on maturing aspects of DE weapons systems technology to
make them even more valuable and cost-effective to meet our Nation’s defense requirements. The morning
keynote addresses and sessions are unclassified and open to the press. Attendees will have the opportunity to
hear from, and ask questions to stakeholders and experts.
7) Will the event focus on the sponsors’ products and services?
 No. This conference will focus on exploring issues and solutions related to fielding DE and related capabilities,
e.g., railgun, to address emerging threats, and create new advantages for warfighters. This event is sponsored by
Booz Allen Hamilton and the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. The Center for Strategic and
Budgetary Assessments (CSBA) is an independent, nonprofit public policy research institute established to
promote innovative thinking and debate about national security strategy, defense planning and military investment
options for the 21st century.
